Yea I could see this becoming the second "everyone" conference. Would be great as that final push and reveals for games coming out early the next year especially.

The real question is viewership.

Viewership for the Game Awards in 2016 was up 65% over 2015. If we keep seeing numbers go up, publishers will take it more and more seriously in terms of game announcements/reveals.

I just googled it and as of right now, no word on how many people saw last weeks awards.

Honestly, it's all so objective, I only care if there are new announcements...

Yup. The nominees are announced Tuesday. It's hard to care much about who wins (we know it'll be RDR2 anyhow), when there are 100 other year-end awards, given out by every other gaming site. Sometimes I have a personal favorite to root for, but I don't really have one this year.

It'll be the announcements that matter to me. Re. that, Keighley did qualify that some/many of them will not be game announcements, but announcements of DLC to existing games.

Anyhow, with no conferences going on, this will take its place. Some new stuff to look forward to.

The industry certainly favors quantity of awards over the awards actual quality.

God of War will win a ton of awards but I agree that RDR2 is a shoe in for this one.

Full list of nominations: https://thegameawards.com/awards/

Your GOTY nominees are

- Celeste
- Assassin's Creed Odyssey
- God of War
- Spider-Man
- Monster Hunter World
- Red Dead Redemption 2

Celeste doesn't belong in that list, and I've played it through twice on my switch. It's a fun little game but it's a simple platformer with a cute, simple story and great simple gameplay. Gaming media needs to stop this progressive retro thing they seem to think is pc.

What should win

GOTY: God of War
Direction: God of War
Narrative: RDR2
Art Direction: God of War
Score: RDR2
Audio Design: RDR2
Performance: Roger Clarke/Arthur Morgan RDR2

AC Odyssey got left out of the Best RPG category, which seems like a slight.

Well it's in Action/Adventure where I think it belongs. Those UBI open world games are all very "RPG-lite" in my mind or at best Action RPGs.

Overall a good list. Hope FH4 wins it's category as it certainly deserves the recognition (best FH game yet). I'll finally be getting a PS4 on BF ($199 1TB Slim Spider-Man bundle) and will be playing GoW and Spider-Man at the very least from that list.
