Ok, after a few days with the new console and some observations (haven't tried Last of Us or GoW yet). Also, while I've played PS4 briefly at a friends house, I haven't really messed around with PS since 2009 when I sold my PS3.
- Spider-Man is really good. It's basically a UBI open world game (many similarities) done REALLY REALLY well...and it's Spider-Man. The city traversal feels great and the costumes are sweet.
- Horizon is good. While I find the graphics to be very good, there's also something odd about them...might be how "soft" they look...very oil painty. It's definitely pretty and interesting though but probably won't get too far into until I finish Spidey.
- Console interface is clean (much better that that cross media crap on PS3) but still kind of not intuitive IMO. Some head scratchers about where certain features are located.
- Controller is definitely an improvement over PS3 but still not my fav due to thumbstick placement...I do like that it's wider and the grips are improved over DS3.
- I have an HDR10 TV (which is detected fine by my Xbox One X and S) but for some reason the PS4 says HDR not detected. I haven't really had time to troubleshoot it yet though (could be the HDMI I plugged into doesn't support HDR).
- Download speeds so far have looked up to par with Xbox (HZD 47 GB downloaded in around 15-20 min on my 1 Gbit line; last gen PSN download speeds were terrible)
- Haven't played online yet but planning to check out Fortnite at least.
So, overall, very happy with the purchase so far considering the price and pack-in. Still on the fence with PS Plus just because I already have XBL and all my friends play there. Have until the end of the day to buy it at $40.
So, any other suggesetions for PS exclusive games? My list currently includes:
- Bloodborne
- Uncharted Collection
- Uncharted 4
- Ratchet and Clank
- Shadow of the Colossus
Thanks!
