Val said Zelda looked as good as most PS4 games.Didn't Val say Zelda BotW looked as good as God of War?
I mean both the the head explode plus the severe beating combo. Mortal Kombat may be going back to it's roots or giving us a solid mix of new and old school MK.
The beat down makes me wonder if they're going to include a Brutality Combo launcher like the old MK3: Ultimate, except it will Brutality directly into a Fatality.
Now imagine for example Kung Lao's MKX Brutality punishing someone like this, but then instead of just a final hard punch, he slams his hat raser into their face. Or the Brutality optionally launches into the Buzz Saw Head split Fatality.
Yes I am going to bring up a higher resolution as Injustice 2 is higher resolution vs SFV....double in fact.
Awful style? LOL muted colors and jerky/TERRIBLE(comical looking) animations is my definition of awful.
Who cares if it looks more photo like if it moves like ass?

Well would ya look at that.
Oh don't make me find many videos talking about this as it has been talked about for years and it does matter when comparing visuals.Yeah it's hard to find people whining on a forum LOL. The same forums that claim 30fps is unplayable in games etc. BTW there have been leaks that they've changed the animation system but I don't think that was part of the leak that looks the most legit but we'll see.
Muted colors you are trying to say I'm wrong?Muted colors? You have turned the HDR up right? the colors are awesome! Probably one of the best uses of HDR so far in a game. The animations aren't jerky either, you are really a snob when it comes to this kind of thing lol. SFV has muted colors even though it looks like a cartoon, nothing stands out. The lighting is flat, they go for those stupid flashy screen effects during moves instead of trying to make the actual environments look good, that's a problem a lot of Japanese fighting games seem to have these days, SC6 looks like s*** because they went for flashy weapon effects over fidelity. Tekken looked pretty good but still not great, yeah it's a 3D fighter but it's not like the arenas are that complex, it also runs sub 900p on the base PS4, you have to have a PRO just to get 1080p on console with that game.

Even though I definitely disagree about the animations, I can maybe see where you're coming from but "muted colours"? I'm not sure if you're remembering it wrong or if your TV or game settings wrong, colours are vibrant and pop, at least on an hdr set.The terrible animation and muted colors keep it from being a clear pic over KI.
My tv is more than capable of displaying the colors right and HDR super bright.
I have it on PS4/Pro.
Maybe its better on X?
I haven't played it on ps4, so I can't really say. It does look deep and poppy on the one with hdr though. Honestly feel it's one of the more impressive hdr titles, but I think it looks fine with hdr off too, it's a bit hard to get there blacks look great without hdr though, it's usually too grey or the blacks get crushed. It's possible to get it right although the settings I use doesn't look good with other games then.My tv is more than capable of displaying the colors right and HDR super bright.

Come on bro..Have you calibrated the HDR in the game menu? they have it way down by default. I have it on both the Pro and X and it's only slightly sharper on the X but that's about it. I don't get the muted colors claim at all, the metallic armor pieces stand out in the light, the colored lights pop like crazy etc.
Not sure where you are getting that. There is plenty of transition- Some moves are just really fast, and their key poses are much more dynamic than MK's. They did improve for Injustice 2 though.KI has virtually no transitional animations, everything looks really stiff and lacking to me. I agree with the rest of your post though
I agree with that. I'm just saying KI's animation isn't it's problem, though it could still be better. KI's lighting is flat and the materials are weak. The modeling is too stylized to make a comment there, but the game in general doesn't read that great. The game is also in dire need of some ambient occlusion too. It's also light on content compared to NRS games (all fighters are though). I hear KI runs at 90fps, which seems like a bit of a waste of resources to me. It does have amazing Particles, though...Injustice 2 and mkx looks better than KI, definitely not a discussion lol
They'll get it eventually. It really comes down to their posing on the extreme ends. They need to push it into a bit more unrealistic dynamism, much the way photography looks much better if you subjects poses are pushed more. You only need it for a frame or two, but it makes it more satisfying. NRS' style is a bit too constrained. It's still much better than it used to be.Yeah you can find videos of people b****ing about everything too, that's 70% of youtube gaming videos these days is b****ing about the same crap that they read people b****ing about on forums. NRS has always had people complaining about their animations yet they improve with every release, they are far from jerky and janky even if they aren't the style that you like. They could do better with blending obvious wire work sure but it's not like that stuff is perfect in other fighting games either. Again that has nothing to do with your original point about UE3 being outdated either that's just a side argument.

Come on bro..
I am all about tech and tweaking it.
The HDR was fine the colors are dull, maybe that's the word I'm looking for?

Those particles don't really stand out to me after seeing games in HDR, it's too bad they haven't added HDR to that game because those particles would really shine (literally) if they lit up more.
Yeah there is always room for improvement and that's one thing I appreciate about that studio, they get better with each game. MK games used to look low end but this generation they've really upped their game and have taken the fighting game graphics crown by a mile IMO. The animations have continued to improve and hopefully they'll keep that progress going. My only real complaint about Injustice 2's animation was when certain moves required wire work and it looked really obvious that the person was spinning in a harness, that was mostly true with a couple of Supergirl's moves. That being said nothing in the game is jerky or janky the way Val describes it IMO. Of course his first complaint was about them using UE3 as a base for their tech and then it moved to animations for some reason lol.
I agree. They really need to step it up for KI4.
I can't imagine they used actual wirework to make the game....The jumping would be part of their physics engine. They don't have to MoCap everything, and the best stuff is still manipulated after the capture to make it look/read better...
