Anthem

I think I’m going to preorder tonight. I’m still knee deep into Odyssey but I could use something to break things up with that game. The Division 2 looks good but very familiar so I think I’ll go with the unknown with Anthem and hope for the best while I fulfill my Iron Man fantasy.

I’m not sure which Javelin I’ll use as my main though. Ranger is focused on weapons and single target damage which should be really useful for the tougher difficulties. The Colossus is just a larger version of the ranger with emphasis on AoE damage. The Storm and Interceptor in my opinion will be using weapons the least since the Storm is basically your spell caster and Interceptor is a melee hit and run fighter which interests me the least.

If you have EA Access the 10 hour free trial starts today.

Played for about 2.5 hours today without a hitch! Game plays very smoothly...loving the lore in the game.

That's what dasMEHDI, a Twitch streamer, said. He was impressed how much history there was.

Microtransactions are not as bad as I thought they would be but they are not cheap either. Skins seem to be priced at $8.50 a pop and for comparison to another game AC: Odyssey skins are at $8. I did purchase one armor pack from the Ubi store for $15 that included one weapon, a mount and a full armor set. The armor is just a totally awesome looking set that I can keep upgrading making it useful throughout the life of the game so there is value there. But I'm still not sure if that's really true or I'm just justifying the purchase. I guess in the end we make our own choices but these in-game purchases seem to be here to stay. Well, CD Projekt Red did say no scummy MTX BS in their upcoming game so there is hope.

Easily in the TOP 3 for graphics for this generation... certainly not as realistic of an art style as RDR2, I think the stylized look is closer to God of War 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn. If GoW4 had a real UHD w/higher resolution textures, it would look a lot like the stuff featured be in this game, but that is more down to console spec. It feels crazy to say a game easily surpasses the crazy special fx work in GoW4, but I'm saying it.

Also, one of the best looking HDR titles, up there with GoW eye candy.

Anyone wondering, the framerate, input-latency and resolution are massively improved over VIP Demo (Xbox One X), plays a lot better.

After the demo, this game fell off my radar. Well after playing a bit of the full game on EA Access I am interested. The framerate feels a lot better than the demo. The controls also feel a lot better (that could just be the framerate or maybe I'm just getting better).

I only played a little bit but this game is back on my maybe buy list. I was not impressed with the demo but am enjoying it a lot more now. I think the fps not being janky helps a ton. Where the demo almost pushed me away, this pulls me in and makes me want to play more. Honestly after the opening mission/tutorial I almost just hit the preorder button but held off.

which one is that? i only see 2 armors in the store and they both look generic, is there somewhere i am not looking or do i have to level up more

I played the first two missions of this last night and I absolutely love it. I don’t know what it is but it feels and handles so much better than the demo last month.

Yeah I think it is the framerate being a ton more stable. In the demo, you just mash buttons and hope. Now that the fps is more stable (still far from perfect, but much improved) you can actually enjoy the combat a little more. It still gets chaotic at times, but feels a ton better. You can actually use combos and aim better.

I'm still on the fence though. The missions got a little repetitive already. Still, I'm thinking it will be good for some fun, even if the endgame ends up being shallow. I don't need to be grandmaster poobah x20 in the endgame to get my $53 out of it (discount with ea access).

The game looks gorgeous on X1X too. I just have so many games piling up right now though.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of Youtubers, but mtashed played a bunch of hours and gives a pretty good description of through the mid-late game.

I haven't played the game yet but from the video I've seen of the in-game store its not selling much. But something about prices we should all be aware of is there are higher level rarity skins which will probably be more expensive. I don't think we can even call these things microtransactions anymore because to me anything beyond $5 goes beyond minor impulse purchase level but that's just me.

Anyway, after a lengthy viewing of a stream this game has way too many loading screens. In fact the game overall seems to be in a bit of rough shape and yet I still want to play it. So if I do get it and I'm disappointed after a couple hours I guess it'll be my fault for ignoring the issues I'm aware of and buying it anyway just to fly like Iron Man.

I'm sure EA hid most of the microtransactions until launch or even later. I notice a lot of companies even waiting a week or two so that the reviewers can't mention them.

I'm not too worried about microtransactions. I had decent options just from the hour or two I played.

The big issue is I think any in game currency is going to go towards crafting gear.

do you not have xbox? just pay for a month of ea access and see if you like it in the 10 hours it gives

lol they're not hidden. There's actually a mission that unlocks the vanity shop, where you can buy skins and such. That said, the rate at which you earn in-game currency is surprisingly generous, so you can afford to buy expensive items really quickly without having to spend real money.

Yes, they are. I unlocked the shop and there's only 2 things in it. Mtashed has played for like 15 hours and still only has 2 things in the store, same as us.
There's no way there won't be a ton more microtransactions. The 2 things they have look bland and nobody would buy them anyway.

They learned from Battlefront 2 not to put everything out at the start.

I'm fine with cosmetic only transactions, but people should not assume we've seen the prices or the full item list.

Two things? We're not playing the same game. There are a couple of skins, but there are also textures, vinyls, and crafting mats. Saying future skins are "hidden" are like saying Fortnite only has a couple of items in their shop and "hides" microtransactions. ROFL.

Ultimately, what it boils down to is this: yeah, the game has microtransactions. However, unlike other games, they're pretty easy to avoid. Whether they'll change this is an entirely other question though. Could they nerf the rate you earn coin? Could they increase the prices? Who knows? But to suggest they're hiding things is silly, especially when you have seen them with your own eyes (odd that you only see two items somehow?).

Wow, you are difficult today. I never said they are a problem. I'm glad EA has dumped other models and gone cosmetics only. You seem to see an agenda that isn't there. I hate the constant EA bashing as they've changed their tune. As long as they keep pay to win out of it, they are a lot better than other companies as of late.

There's only 2 skins. Sorry I guess I should have counted each and every item. I assumed everyone knew what I am talking about. Still if you think 2 skins is it, we can agree to disagree. I would bet that more stuff drops within a week of launch, just after the reviews are done.

does anyone elses settings reset every time you launch the game??? i have to constantly change the video settings anytime i turn it on!!! (i dont 0want your s***ty aggressive motion blur and AO)

Didn’t go messing with the settings so I’m not sure. I’ll change something next time I play and see what happens on a restart.

Watching streams there are a lot of load screens but I laugh at stuff like this

"There are too many load screens that take too long. I'm going back to Destiny"

😀

If The Division wasn't coming out so soon, I might be tempted to pick this up.

I noticed that the disappearing and magically appearing enemies is still an issue.

I'm still torn. I get a discount with EA Access but I think if I get it it will be on PC. The framerate is ok on X1X but still not great.

I couldn't care less if you liked the game or hated it. However, you are posting BS about EA hiding things, and even posting some conspiracy theory that games are withholding microtransactions so that reviewers don't comment on them.

Fact is, there ARE microtransactions in this game. Everyone knows this. EA isn't hiding anything, contrary to your prior post. Whether people like the microtransactions or not, I don't care, but don't try to pretend you haven't tried to warp some conspiracy theory into your opinions about the game.

The game is fun. I'll worry about the endgame when I get there, but right now I'm having a blast.

Runs great on my PC too.
