Anthem

Somehow they buffed drops for a bit and then did a stealth nerf on them. Now the lead programmer who has been interacting with the community (a little) is taking a break.

They did? Why happened now? I’ve been getting good drops when I play.
My understanding is that last night, they did a server side patch that upped drops. Then the client patch this morning put it back to where it was lol. Subreddit back to complaining about the drops lol.

It is hard to tell real complaints from the usual whiners on Reddit though. I'm not even at the endgame so I can't try myself. It seems some people say there are drops but they are mostly useless (makes sense based on how the system works), others say they get nothing at all.

I am officially done with the game until they fix it. I soloed a world event and the servers booted me at the finish. Since you don't get XP and rewards until the end screen, I got nothing for my time. Still seeing all sorts of other bugs too.

Last patch has been great for me. Did one Stronghold and one Legendary contract and I got 5 masterwork items between both missions. They took my Colossus from 415 to 505. :bang:

I seem to disconnect any time I spend time in freeplay. Unfortunately, to progress I have to play it. What sucks worse is you only earn XP from killing enemies when you end your freeplay session, so if you crash out, any XP you earned is just gone. 20 minutes wasted. The gear is just gone too.

Not to mention I got downed and had a teammate revive me. The rest of the mission, I still had the death screen in the middle of my screen and could barely play. I was up and moving but it still wanted me to respawn.

Just super frustrating. I'm also noticing that missions aren't filling up with matchmaking. Maybe people are further along than me, but you'd think on a Sunday there would be people playing.

The game is just tough to love.

People on my friends list who were loving the increased drop rates now complaining they have nothing to do.

I tried telling 'em but they wouldn't listen.

I don’t spend a whole lot of time in Free Play. Playing on GM1 difficulty you need your team around you and in free mode people tend to not stick together. Still though, loving the drop rate of MW stuff.

Someone on reddit was complaining that they didn't have all 3 javelins maxed out completely yet.

OMG you can start expeditions now without having to walk all the way to your javelin!!

why did it take them this long to put this in!?!?!? just adds to the fuel of the fact this game was not played/tested before release

I had the EA Access trial and I am over it. It’s fun to play when it’s working but too many bugs and sloppy performance.

So people are planning a boycott of Anthem because they think the loot grind is too tough .

Can't wait to see them all complain when there is nothing else to strive for.

Really? The loot drop is brilliant. I’m getting master works on every legendary contract and usually two or three on a Stronghold. I think the loot drops are great. It’s like Diablo. Loads of stuff dropping so you can mix it out and get different builds.

Welcome to the echo chamber of reddit. Something gets repeated and upvoted enough, it becomes "fact". The problem with Reddit is that whatever opinion gets 51% of the people suddenly becomes the only opinion, simply because of the way it works.

What I find is that you get the entitlement aspect where people feel they should have everything right away. Obviously they don't understand the loot grind aspect that is central to these games. Ultimately though it is tough because how many hours should it take to get a good build? 50? 100? 250? 1000? Seeing as this has no PVP though, it shouldn't really be an issue.

I'm not at the endgame yet. I'm more concerned about the more frequent bugs personally. Fix my crashes that keep me from progressing to even get to the endgame.

Fixed

Also I'm only level 20 right now so nowhere near endgame yet either. Just got my first epic drop the last time I played.

There is no real end game in it at the moment. At level 30 you just access to the GM difficulty levels which drop better gear but it’s jist the three Stronghold missions, daily contracts and free play.

Played some of The Division 2, and I'll admit I missed being able to just take off and fly whenever I want to.

I wish you could combine the two games.

I'm stuck between the server disconnects and needing to find one more titan to continue the campaign. I flew around for an hour and nothing spawns. The game is just empty. Then I get a message saying the server is shutting down in 2 hours and I'm taken back to the Bioware splash screen as if the game completely has to re-load. Yet again I lose some more XP. I can play Div2 and Destiny 2 without a network hiccup, but this game is really unstable for me.

I get horribly frustrated with this game, and if feels half finished at times, but I keep coming back to it. Unfortunately Division 2 is going to take most of my time though. That game has really raised the bar for these looter shooter launches. A game like this doesn't have to be half finished and buggy at launch.

EA has really screwed both MS and Sony over when it comes to marketing deals this gen, SWBF2, BFV, Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem are all games that had a lot of bad publicity right at release and both Sony and MS had their logos appear right after every ad for these games. I know some will point out that several of them sold well anyway but they also went on sale for like 50% off not too long after launch, that never used to happen. EA would be the last publisher I'd give a dime to for something like this in the future, hopefully MS and Sony don't renew any deals they have with EA when the contracts expire and put that money to better use.

People love to root against EA. Not sure why people keep lumping BFV in with games that failed. The microtransactions are a non-issue (I'm not even sure where they are in the game). People need to stop hating on EA and let them fix Anthem, because there is a good game in there.

Haven't played the game in a week. The guy I normally play with has been sick/busy so I haven't bothered playing until he returns. He only has the monthly Origin Prime though so not sure if he will get another month to continue playing. Honestly if I take a few months off until he feels like coming back I would be ok with it. Haven't really missed the game in the week unfortunately. Maybe in a month or two it will be fixed and have more to offer.

BFV had all kinds of issues at launch and even before due to the way they handled some controversies. The game underperformed and I bought it for $30 in December, those low sale prices have helped pad the numbers a bit. EA and Bioware have had issues with their last two games, ME:A and now to a lesser degree Anthem. Hell the last non sports game that hasn't had some kind of problem was TF2 and they released that at the dumbest time possible. I want EA to clean up their act but they just don't seem to learn.

BFV had some issues, but they were pretty minor and exaggerated by the EA haters (not to mention the whole trailer with a female soldier drama).

Sometimes, EA deserves what they get, but there's a large group who give it to EA no matter what. BF V is a perfect example. You're talking about bugs when you didn't get the game until later.

Anthem has unique problems that have nothing to do with EA's other games.

BFV had issues after the fact, they kept messing things up with updates etc. EA as a whole needs to stop releasing games before they are ready, that's all on them. This is a problem with a lot of publishers sadly these days but SWBF2 had it's issues, ME: Andromeda was a mess of a game and never should have been released in the state it was in at launch, BFV wasn't ready at the time it came out and neither was Anthem. That's two DICE games and two Bioware games in a row that launched before they were ready and EA should have learned that lesson by now. That's also something Activision should have learned with Destiny but that's generally the only series they did that with and they are no longer running the show on that title so don't take this as an EA bashing post but this is a thread about an EA game and they have been s***ting the bed a lot lately.

You didn't play BFV at launch though so you're just repeating what others said. That's my point. BFV had bugs at launch but nothing that should have delayed it. You're just repeating what the EA haters want you to. BFV actually was delayed and it was a better game for it. They can never do right though.

Now, Anthem needed 3+ more months to fix bugs and add content for sure.

I got both BFV and SWBF2 a few weeks after launches. I did not experience these “problems” you’re speaking of. Both games were fine. Want to go into more detail on what you’re talking about?

SWBF2 had more pre-release issues as far as the micro transaction etc and BFV had several bugs etc at launch that shouldn't have been there. If you weren't paying attention at the time that's fine but that stuff was being pretty widely discussed.

The micro transactions in SWBF2 were blown way out of proportion. They were not an issue you could enjoy the game just fine. I had no trouble unlocking stuff and characters.

What bugs are you speaking of in BFV? Is this stuff you read on the internets or did you actually play these two games at launch?
