Yea I mean the Wired article is talking to Cerny so at least what's in that article should be accepted. when it comes to exact numbers though, grain of salt at this point.

Sony said they were going to be more transparent so I guess this is what they meant lol. I'm fine with them sort of getting this out there now, it was all going to leak anyway since dev kits are being sent out to more studios so they may as well have been in charge of how the info is distributed. Anyone else announcing next gen in the next couple of months wouldn't have anything real to show anyway so they may as well go first.

How official can it be? Some guy who created Marble Madness, some lady who's the CEO of the second-largest chip maker (not even #winning) and the official account of a company that's not even important enough to be headquartered in the USA.

Is Sony gonna have any presence at all at E3? I thought they were skipping this year or something?
Tgey will obviously do something around E3 time, they still have games to sell. Will it be a full blown presser....unlikely.

Tech demos are pointless, they are never even remotely representative. Rather they show something a bit more real and honest.
Didn't someone from Sony say they weren't doing anything at all around E3? I mean there really is no need for it, they only have a couple of first party games left and we already know what they are and if any of them do release this year they can just go around letting different websites/youtubers check them out and cover them. Everything else is for PS5 and they probably want to wait until those games are further along before they show anything, maybe PSX if they do it this winter or sometime next spring.
PS3 to PS4 I understood and expected. The X1 BC surprised me. I thought it would be full BC day 1.
I do expect both consoles to have full proper BC this time.
I really hope PS5 does. I will be getting PS5 first next gen, and want to play 6-8 games from current gen...God of War, Spiderman, Ghosts of Tushima, bloodbourne, Horizon, and Last of Us 2 if it releases this gen, and Gran Turismo Sport if there is no talk of a new GT near launch.
When they said PS4 was x86/64 based it was a given that BC wouldn't be a issue with future machines IF they kept the same architecture.
IF the muscle is there,they will also be able to emulate PS,PS2 and PS3 as well... maybe with enhancements.
I don't see actual 8K support being used much or at all.
The 8K part is likely the HDMI 2.1 support.
I could see this and it be pretty amazing if we could get PS/2 games with 8K support/downsampled to 4K...
