This is some bullsh!t weather. I'm stopped north of Jackson, MS just before another line of storms. On weather radar they show going East to West toward where I'm parked. It's like its under the pull of the gulf weather.

This is probably typical, just weird to me because I'm new here.

Haha got away from the snow now I get hurricanes.

Please stop bringing the weather with you everywhere you go

Are these type of storms normal this time of year? I know it's not some cat 4 hurricane, but I can't say I ever remember hearing about even tropical storms in July. Seems like it's usually not until late August on when the big stuff starts forming.

If you're talking hurricanes/tropical depressions then no. Add to the fact that the Mississippi river is at a higher level during this time of year could spell big trouble. There's a possibility the flooding/surges could breach the top of the levees in New Orleans.

Yea I live in Dubuque and it's only been about month or so since the flooding here went down, which easily surpassed the record for length of time over the flood stage in any recent history.

Tried the Beyond Meat brats tonight and they're really good. Taste and smell like the real thing, and the consistency is close enough, especially since it just gets smothered in sauerkraut and brown mustard. I've also recently made the switch to their frozen beef crumbles as that works out well for things like spaghetti. I have had their regular burger patties and I'm not as sold on those. The main issue is the smell. They taste close enough to burgers but the smell of them cooking is off for me. I see they've recently come out with regular ground beef so I may give that a shot to see if it's somehow different.

I had a truck stop burger like that, I think.
I wonder if it might have been an Impossible Burger. Those seem to be in restaurants more from what I've seen. Not even sure you can buy those in a grocery store. I think they have in in places around here but never go to. Looking forward to Burger King having it national.

Been interested in trying the Impossible Burger for a while now. Has anyone here had one?

Here's a vid that does a taste test on different burgers. The channel, as a whole, is great.

I'm not much of a food person but they seem to be fun. Interesting to see that his biggest issue with it is the smell as well. Like I said, I'll have to try the ground version of it and make my own. I doubt it would smell any different but worth a shot. I'm also interested in water cooking method. There's a small burger stand in western WI that makes burgers in water and they're probably the best I've ever had. In that case it's done directly in the water though and not sealed.

What about the pink Himalayan Salt?

I think these are distintly different more or less in mineral content? However, I think the supposed benefits of them might be way oversold.

Curiously, I think the plain old table salt is routinely iodized and that has some benefits. I'm not sure if these others salts have that.

Please stop calling salt "sea salt". All salt comes from the sea. It is like saying "sky air".

I headed north into Arkansas and had to pass through a line off severe storms all headed directly south from the plains.

I was messaged from a head of operations. I wonder if they want me to change my direction. I'm supposed to be going home this weekend near Mobile.

If the forecast holds it looks like the worst winds from what could be Hurricane Barry will come ashore west of Alabama.

But that doesn’t mean Alabama won’t feel some its effects -- especially along the coast.

The National Weather Service in Mobile is expecting heavy rain, deadly rip currents, high surf and coastal flooding from the storm, which could make landfall on Saturday in Louisiana as a hurricane.
