Spider-Man Far From Home - Spoiler And He’s Back In The MCU, One Last Go?

Possible spoiler from Holland

Mysterio in this movie is actually my new best friend. We team up together to fight these Elemental creatures because when Thanos snapped his fingers, these creatures came through the dimensional rift.

Not sure where to post this, but Sony ended the Marvel partnership that allowed Spidey in the MCU.

I'm actually bothered by this :/

Disney: Give us more of the profits
Sony: No
Everyone: OMG Sony is taking Spiderman out of the MCU

I'm sure they will come to a deal but I don't know why people are so willing to take sides in these situations.

I heard that Disney was only making 5% on opening day and they were asking for 50/50.

They were getting 5% of the box office and ALL of the merchandising and anything made from using the character at theme parks etc even though Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man when it comes to movies and financed the films. They still may work it out but honestly I don't see how Spider-Man fits in the MCU anymore anyway. Holland and RDJ had awesome chemistry but that's gone now, he wouldn't really fit with any of the other movies announced for the next phase of the MCU or any of the other characters IMO. Now they can do a Spider-Man vs Venom movie if they want etc.

It's funny reading some of the coverage people are acting like Disney are saints, if they only knew how brutal they are as a company they may change their tune.

Guess Sony wants to make less money.

What does this mean for MCU, though. they were setting Spidey up to be the next Tony Stark afterall.

Spiderman and Deadpool? Easy. There's a lot of potential with Pete being a lead Avenger over the next iteration of the movies. Doesn't mean they can't do a crossover at some point with Venom and leave it out of the MCU.

Also, yeah Disney is quite the evil corporation, but that doesn't mean we don't want to see what they had planned for it. I'm really hoping they strike some sort of deal. If that 5% figure is true, Disney made over $50 million on Far From Home box office alone. I'm sure they want more, but that's a nice take home for a movie they didn't bankroll.

Venom made $800 million and wasn't part of the MCU, Spider-Man will do just fine without being part of the MCU if things don't get figured out.

A lot of people were already complaining that they were turning Spider-Man into Iron Spider-Man and that they were just having him become Stark, he can't be anchored to a dead character forever. I don't know how Spider-Man would be a new lead Avenger when they clearly want to focus on Captain Marvel as the leader, I don't see Holland and Larson having much chemistry the way she plays that character. I think there are plenty of Spider-Man villains that need to be included in his movies, Holland is only signed for two more films (they'll likely extend that) but they can keep Spider-Man busy with his own rogues gallery and not even need to see him in any other MCU films.

He doesn't have to be a leader necessarily but Spiderman is still the biggest character.

Disney putting their bots to work?

He is but keeping him in the MCU and doing his own standalone films would likely lead to a bit of overexposure as well, I know they've done stand alone films for other Avengers but other than the Captain America films, Ragnarok and the first Iron Man most people didn't care for them. Sony needs Spider-Man standalone films to be successful, farming him out to the MCU where he could potentially be used in one or two movies a year along with their own films carries a bit of a risk.

Wouldn't be surprised, they bought out theaters to fluff Captain Marvel's numbers.

Yeah I'm sure that is exactly what happened

Most likely we wouldn't have seen him in any cross overs for a few years

They did do that to fluff the opening weekend numbers, they didn't do it for the entire theatrical run just the opening weekend.

Disney had been seeking a co-financing arrangement on upcoming movies, looking for at least a 30 percent stake. Sony, which counts Spider-Man as one of its only reliable moneymaking franchises, said no. Before both sides walked away, talks had gone to the top level, with Rothman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra on Sony’s side and Disney Studios' co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman involved. In the next month and a half, Far From Home would go on to catch $1.109 billion in the box office web, becoming Sony’s biggest movie of all time. The figure reinforced both sides’ thinking. Sony executives believed they didn’t need Disney anymore, and Disney was in no way leaving money, and Peter Parker, behind, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
