The game also supports up to 10player local host Versus, with bots if you want..... the fight for the prize might be making a come back after these years!

Fight? Just hand it to me now.

Wow, they really put a lot of thought into the franchise this time around. Thoroughly impressed. I am glad I am not sitting there mowing down robots either.

And and it’s sexy as hell :surprise::surprise:

So I haven’t played as Kait yet. Do they force me to switch characters later in the game?

Played a couple of hours and so far it's Gears lol thankfully you can turn off the camera shake during the roadie run so that's a big plus. I don't get the best looking game of all time talk, it looks very good but I can think of several games that look better.

Yeah, it looks great, especially given it's running 60 fps with as much going on as it is. There is a lot of dense detail too, but the stylistic look keeps it from being over that edge. Still, it's been pretty epic so far, and I feel like I'm still in the beginning.

I do have to comment that I really noticed the sound in this one. It feels more intricate and there is nice detail in the little atmospheric and environmental noises. Good stuff, though I do wish some of the effects were more accurate to the location of the head I just popped instead of overlaying so it sounds punchier. It's ok though. Awesome game so far!

Multiplayer is a bit off. Noticed a faire few times that people have killed me when they are not even aiming at me. Noticed some stutters/FPS/lag spikes when in combat aswell. Not sure if this is due to its current limited release or serious issues witg the game.

Easily best looking game on console. Don’t know how it looks on PC.

I played boot camp and ran the benchmark on PC. Game looks great but more importanly it runs pretty darn well. With all the graphic options on Ultra and Ultra textures installed at 3440x1440( Game has beautiful ultra-wide support) I was getting 70-80 fps in the benchmark and in boot camp I was in the 80-100 fps range.

Graphical tour de force on the XB1X as well as the Standard S.
DF going crazy over the visuals.

I would have liked them to go for 30fps and bump up the particles and effects more, it looks strange when they are sliding across the sand and nothing is getting kicked up, it makes it look very sterile. This is the best looking console game to target 60fps I'll give it that (on the One X) but as far as best looking overall no way.

From what I can see it sounds like it was a trade off.

1. Bump up the framerate and maybe sacrifice some visual quality in terms of added affects/animation.

2. Drop the framerate and increase fidelity across the board.

I honestly think they made the right call (as does the DF review) . 60fps IMHO makes the visuals that much more better. 30fps no mater the detail in a game CAN make that game look less visually appealing IMHO. The fluidity of 60fps combine with a already fantastic detailed world does edge a game up overall for me. However this is also the PC gamer in me speaking where such sacrifices rarely need to be made.

They INCREASED the visual quality over Gears 4) AND Doubled the framerate. That's pretty amazing, honestly. Gears 4 on X had to run 1080p in order to do 60fps on the campaign. They even upped the DoF quality past 4's PC Ultra, and the Motion blur. Also increased the Poly count on the characters? Good Stuff.

I know.
I'm just saying that if they had targeted 30fps from the get go they probably would've been able to squeeze in a bit more. That's all. Not saying for sure as I'm not creating with the Unreal Engine, but the additional CPU overhead could've been directed someplace else.

Again, I think the game stands toe to toe with the best this gen has to offer in terms of visuals. The 60FPS (mostly) lock is icing on the cake.

I talked so much s*** about on the Escape mode, during E3, after E3, when they kept showing it and talking about it... now I've probably spent about 90% of my time in Gears 5 playing it so far. Sometimes I'm wrong.

Game is jacked for me, constant disconnects from co op campaign. Really disappointing.

Lol this guy

I wanna see the visual comparison to the PC version. As having the game at all Ultra settings at 1080p (with ultra textures installed) on my PC with a heavily OC'd and custom water cooled GTX 1070 the game managed about 67 FPS average in the benchmark and definitely dipped below 60fps several times. I do know that the PC version HEAVILY favors AMD graphics cards.

Gears 4 came out a year before the One X so they weren't able to target the hardware when they developed the game, all of those changes were made after the fact and they likely didn't dedicate a ton of resources to improve a year old game, this time they had the hardware to target from day one so they were able to actually take advantage of it completely. Also this game is not native 4K most of the time, it's dynamic resolution with reconstruction going on a lot during gameplay which is totally fine, I'm all for "faux K" if they do a good job of faking it and they seem to here.

I don't think this kind of game needs 60fps in single player, it's a slower paced cover shooter without a ton of characters to fight at one time so it doesn't require that twitch shooter performance. I have no doubt the visuals could have been bumped up considerably in places where they had to sacrifice now. It was their decision and they did a great job considering the limitations they put on themselves because of the 60fps but I do wish the environments had more going on than they do.

I got somewhere in the low 40s with my 5700xt at 4k ultra. Since my monitor is 60 hz, I just set the frame target to 60 minimum and maximum and will go with that. Looks plenty fine to me.

Just got home and it seems XBox Live is down for me will not let me sign in. WTF!

EDIT: just checked XBox Support Twitter and yes they’re experiencing sign in issues. Is it just me or has this been happening a lot lately?

Have ultimate and downloaded it already but XBL is down. It won't start. Any idea if there is a way to play it?
