Kittens, Puppies, Animals = Dawwwws.....

So I'm dog sitting a third Husky this weekend for a co worker. I think he is crated for most of the day and he's extremely skittish due to a lack of socialization. It gets under my skin that they kind of messed him up but he's still young and I thought maybe I could give him a fun weekend with my pups.

Anyone have any tips in getting a scared Dog to be comfortable around you?

Group walks. When I've had to walk people's dogs who didn't get along, or were unsure of each other, group walks with one on one side and one on the other worked amazingly. While some of Cesar Milan's techniques are discussable, the group walk is one of the best ones, especially with pack dogs like huskies. Since you have three you can either take two at a time and then go for a second walk right after, or your two on one side and the other one on the other.

It can be hard, hell my Heidi is around me all the time, we play all the time, I walk her, teach her etc and still sometimes looks at me like she thinks I'm going to hit her or something and I've never done anything like that. She's always been a little sensitive but since we've had Boomer that hard headed butt has caused us to raise our voices a bit to get his attention and I think it scares Heidi. Some dogs are just really shy and lack confidence and being in a new unfamiliar situation can just intensify that. Good luck, I know it's sad to see a dog you want to see enjoying life look like it's scared of it's own shadow.
