DEAD SPACE

Same here, though I'm not too happy about that. I have a feeling I'd really like it, but at the same time I just haven't been able to take the plunge.
They need some Dead Rising influence and let me play the game with the character dressed in a thong and bucket helmet. Maybe add in some customizable kinect dialogue for when you get attacked. "YOU CAN'T HAVE MY LUMPING LUMPS!" The future of gaming right there.

While it was diluted somewhat from the original experience, I still enjoyed DS3 immensely.

It was still brilliantly polished, had some great set pieces and while it was definitely more action-oriented this time around, it was still great fun I thought.

I've done 3 play-throughs. One solo and two co-op.

That's the real reason I never got around to playing it. Without these kind of features I just thought it'd be lame.

I loved one and two. I still liked 3, but it was weaker story wise. I played it co-op with a friend who played dead space for the first time. He didn't like it for a couple of reasons. Too many fetch quests. Basically every bonus objective was a fetch quest. Also, too much back tracking. I still enjoy the franchise though, but wonder if they're going to make a dead space 4.

I think he's just looking at the side missions the wrong way, imo. They shouldn't be thought of as merely "fetch quests" in my mind, they're supposed to be about exploring, seeing new and different environments and making it through a gauntlet of challenging combat scenarios. And then the reward for making it through to the conclusion of each scenario is a giant treasure chest of bonus loot you would not have found otherwise. That's all. It's just extra content, extra fun to have with the exploration and combat, to which you are rewarded if you succeed. But they are also rewarding and satisfying in and of themselves if you enjoy the core gameplay. I don't think of them as merely "fetch quests", although, I suppose if the extra gameplay and loot simply isn't enough of an incentive for him to embark on these side missions, then yeah, I guess he'd just consider them irrelevant and boring "fetch quests" then. But I mean, that's what the entire game is about, exploration and combat. Does that mean the entire game is merely a "fetch quest" to reach the final cinematic? lol, I dunno, just thinking out loud...

Heh well he actually thought the entire game was one big fetch quest too since you always had to find something to open a door, etc. I couldn't convince him to like it. I liked the combat myself, but thought story was weaker than the first two. He thought the chick was annoying and I tend to agree. She was a bad ass soldier in two, but in 3 she's like a damsel in distress when she should be kicking ass.

Dead Space is the one franchise I am kicking myself for never playing last gen. For some reason I never got around to playing them and the kicker is its one of my favorite game types...

Big Dead Space fan here!

DS1: Completed it twice on normal, I've started a hard playthrough but it is so hard and tense it feels like I'm going to have a heart attack in some sections lol.
DS2: Completed it 3 times. one on normal then NG+ on hard and again on hard. I don't think I would attempt a nightmare playthrough.
DS3: Completed it 3 times plus a CO-OP playthrough. Done all the side missions and unlocked the foam finger lol.

I really enjoyed the story from all 3, I thought the story in 3 was pretty cool. An ancient alien civilization wiped out by a marker that was stopped at the last second, only to be found by humans and the process restarted again. It is a shame that DS3 didn't sell well, I guess the changes in gameplay and the introduction of human enemy's was not DS to some people. The action sequences did take away from the game and some sections where you had human+Necro's were a little annoying, I would just sit back and let the humans and necros fight first then take out whoever was left.

Dead Space is one game that I will remember for it's atmosphere. I've never played a game that has me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Bought that game new for $10,played about 15 minutes of it,got tired pf the generic dialogue and samey-gameplay. Dead Space should've remained a single game.

Well it's nearly Halloween and I'm tempted to play the trilogy which MS have given away with games with gold

Also, never played the third one if I remember correct, think the reviews scared me off.

Same here. I actually just purchased it late last night though, before the deal ended. I loved the first two as well as the anime. I figured since they were basically giving it away for free ($4.99) I might as well give it a whirl.
