Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone - shutting down September

Game caused my Xbox to shut down last night. Was trying to type in the in-game chat in the lobby and system locked up. Could still hear people in chat so not sure if it was the same issue others were seeing.

Anyways, this game seems so inconsistent. One match is amazing, I'm seeing people, killing them fairly quickly, etc. Then the next match it's shoot first die first. Even in the killcam the other guy is just shooting all over the place and it just takes those 2-3 bullets to kill me, meanwhile I've put like half a mag into them. Sometimes this s*** switches mid match.

Camping still annoying, but mostly playing Dom or Kill Confirmed does help with that. Ground War is just snipe fest in the middle so better hope you can grab more points before the camping sets in.

True, aren't they responsible for certifying that a game isn't crashing their console etc?
The developer is responsible for making their game bug free. Microsoft doesn’t release patches to fix third party games. Third party devs release patches to fix their own game.

It is definitely the game, supposedly the PC version is even more unstable. It definitely crashes on Xbox but it seems infrequent enough where MS testing might not find it (it is MS's job to test, but just a quick QA run, the devs need to fully test their patch).

I've honestly only had the one crash so far on my X1X, granted I haven't played a ton lately. Between losing power and other games I've barely gotten back into COD. I really hope they get a balance patch out soon. Using the same guns over and over gets old fast.

They really need to consider reworking some maps too. Ubisoft does this, they'll pull a map out of rotation and rework it and re-release it. Maps like Piccadilly are just really bad with spawns with only one way out (which also never seem to flip).

Piccadilly really could just use side streets on both sides. I mean they're already there but just blocked off. If you had those separate flank points it would be a bit harder to get spawn camped.

Camping, run-and-gun, etc...they're all part of the game.

Camping is a valid tactic, but unfortunately this game really gives too many advantages to campers and punishes a run and gun style.

A perfect storm of bad design decisions and issues just make it really frustrating:

-Footsteps being hyper loud, making it impossible to sneak up on people (not to mention Dead Silence not even working at launch)
-Map design creating some really awful spots on maps, kill lanes, and camp spots where there's only one way in or out. There's many spots on the map where it is almost impossible to dig out an opposing player, especially once you've thrown your only grenade.
-Skill based matchmaking that makes every game difficult (encouraging people to play more passively). I'm totally against people who pubstomp and support SBMM overall, but this feels so strong. Basically every player I play is almost exactly as good as I am, which makes every gunfight come down to the person who shoots first winning (unless there's lag). So, if I want to go positive, I better camp and be in better position.
-Gunshots not showing up on radar directly anymore - you just get a general direction and distance.
-Spawns flip a lot less (if at all on some maps). Makes camping a particular area a lot easier
-Weapon balance in game is a joke. There's a killer shotgun and the M4. Nothing else is viable, so people run the perk with that lets them use both the best guns.

I'm not anti-camper, but there needs to be more balance like other games had. I feel forced to camp too often. I don't need to always be sprinting around in constant action, but the pace of this game is just too slow at times. TDM matches regularly hit the time limit.

I think it can be adjusted and give a little more balance to aggressive play. Some maps are just awful to play.

I find the game to be a good balance of run and gun and also controlling points. I can do both. Campers, for the most part, can be taken out quickly once you know where they are. I hated the past few releases because they basically had zero control points. This one, I feel, has a very good balance.

There is only one map that drives me nuts, and that's the one with the bridge in the middle. THAT one is cap central. Everything else has been pretty darn fun.

I still hate UAVs/wall hacks. UAVs should be limited to seeing people who are outside/exposed. If you are inside a building it shouldn't work.

Euphrates Bridge... yeah not a fun map. There's some spots you can push, but once one team takes the bridge, it is game over. There's a few ways to get to the other side and really do some damage though. It isn't a very great map though.

Running the ghost perk is just required. The sky is always filled with personal radars and UAVs. You can't even shoot them all down without running out of launcher ammo. Basically you have no chance until you get high enough level to get ghost. I think it is only in the 20s so not too terrible. When people buy this game for Thanksgiving and Chrismas though, they are going to get wrecked.

I also notice a lot of screen tearing now that I'm playing the MP. Kinda baffling to be honest. If they can't run at res without tearing, they need to drop it. It's more distracting than any frame-drop I've encountered

Not sure if I noticed in MP yet but definitely did in the campaign cutscenes.

This is the first COD I’ve played multiplayer on in over years. I really like all the changes so far. The pace is slower and more tactical, the maps aren’t all kill corridors (for the most part) and have a nice verticality to them, the weapon customisations are great and least but not last, dedicated servers! Loving it so far and that’s surprising me a lot.

I do really like it, and think with a balancing patch and fixing a few other issues it can be great.

I got to play again last night and my #1 issue is the visibility (or lack of). You stand outside that cave on Azhir Cave and run in and you have nearly zero chance of seeing someone crouching in the dark. I'm pretty much shooting below the red text of someone's name at times, not able to directly see anyone.

BF V went through the exact same issue. Modern maps look so good and there's so much clutter around. Put a modern lighting system on top and suddenly there's spots players can simply vanish into.

I've actually got no problem with that. I've been doing well, and sometimes you gotta accept that part of warfare is not knowing where the enemy is. Makes camo important. You get the kill cam anyway. The alternative is something like Halo where the player models practically glow and don't react to the light around them. I'm not a fan of that.

There's just some spots on the maps where you're simply blind, like the cave map. It is bright outside and dark inside, so it is realistic, but it makes attacking the cave really difficult. There's that one end where you have to jump down and basically stand right in the open. The strategy on that map is to basically wait for the other team to get bored and come out.

BF V fixed this without ruining the look of the game. They made subtle but noticeable changes to lighting of characters. Basically there's always a very subtle glow. It sounds bad, but it worked fine.

Once people find these blind spots, it is going to get really un-fun. People don't really know the nasty spots yet. I saw one on Reddit yesterday where someone was outside a door and a camper was halfway up the stairs. They were simply invisible. All you see is a muzzle flash. People are going to start finding these spots more and more.

My only real knock on this game is map design. The maps are just not that great. Most promote camping. I hope we gets some classic map remakes. Out of all the MW games this has the weakest maps to me.

Last night was terrible. Could only stomach two matches. Both were shoot first die first type of lag, and the second was a complete mismatch so couldn't get anywhere without running into camping since they had everything locked down on dom. Also, what is it with this game's auto aim? I have it set to standard and it doesn't do s*** for me, yet I see kill cams of other people just snap aiming onto me. I know the footstep sounds are terrible but this is behind "hmm might be an enemy to my right" and is like they just pull LT and wham lock on.
