My Current Console Is....

Wtf? I refuse to believe this, unless AMD found some magic bullet, there is no way the new machine will outperform a thousand dollar card.

Besides, the Senua sacrifice 2 footage was like 24fps and like, 1600p according to DF. This dude ain't going off the reveal if he knows anything (I highly doubt he dies).

The last thing anyone needs is over expectations...

I hope we don't go back to the "secret sauce or second hidden GPU" BS from before this gen started. People trying to get clicks or win a power war on social media before either company has announced the actual numbers doesn't do anyone any favors, it just starts a bunch of fights and in the end everyone will be disappointed. I think we should all just expect that both machines to be powerful and that any advantage one has over the other will likely be meaningless.

Lol. Yes. Lets hope....

It’s kind of different to last gen. PS3 and 360 games still could impress visually. But they had really muddied assets. Bloom overkill and that Vaseline effect.

Games right now already look f***ing amazing. It’s just the performance issues that can drag it down if not stable at 30 or 60 FPS.

Yeah top tier games already look great, sure they can be better but nobody is going to look at this gens best looking games and think "damn that's ugly" lol. That's one reason I'm glad BC is a thing for both companies next gen, it's not like trying to go back and play a game from 5-10 years before that looks bad and doesn't play as well as I remembered which happens a lot when I play older games.

I'm also glad because digital purchases are a thing now and that's all I do, before I didn't care because I could just trade my games in with the console towards the next gen so I like many others fell into the trap of not getting anything back on games I never play anymore lol but at least with games looking as good as they do now I may want to go back and play them again and hopefully some of them will even get patches that improve them in some way.

From another source...apparently this guy is on the XSX dev team. Supposedly:

Anyone else notice how Phil not only rep'd on the Eurogamer article, but he gave no qualifications? And they basically shouted out 12Tf. This thing is 12TF, I've decided, maybe more. Phil could be undershooting it to surprise the public.

I think it’s a smart move for now, because it’s looking like it’s going to be RDNA2, which means the TFs will be different.

It’d be better to wait until more details are revealed, then explain how RDNA utilizes TFs differently than they are used how. Otherwise I’m sure there would be more endless speculation.

Not officially from MS just yet. The official page says ‘next-generation RDNA’, but that’s it. It would fit with the rest of the setup and their approach, though.

Why do some people think VRS is owned by MS? they have patented a specific way THEY do it but it's not a feature that's exclusive to them.

It is true that MS only owns their version of VRS however RDNA1 does NOT support VRS while RDNA2 does. Going by the original rumors PS5 = RDNA1 while XBSX is rumored to be RDNA2.
As a side note RDNA2 also supports the 7nm+ process that would allow the XBSX to be both 12 TF's and still come in at around 200 Watts while RDNA1 right now only supports the 1st gen 7nm process.

Hardware accelerated raytracing isn't supported by any of the RDNA1 cards (they support a software solution) that's an RDNA2 feature and PS5 will have hardware accelerated RT.

But if PS5 is RDNA2, it wouldn’t be Navi 10 lite, correct? I thought all Navi 10 based stuff is RDNA1. If RDNA2, it would be Navi21, or upcoming Navi 23 based.

As of right now they are still saying Navi 10 lite:

Right.
From day 1 All the rumors for PS5 were RDNA1 and for Scarlett were RDNA2. RDNA1 was designed on a 7nm process while RDNA2 was designed on a 7nm+ process.
It seems that the PS5 was originally planned using Vega but switched to Navi half way through.
That's where all those rumors started that 1 console was Vega. I remember that because a lot of Sony guys assumed the Xbox was the Vega box.
Now that things come to light we can see it was really the PS5 that was the Vega console. Crazy how some of those guys automatically assume that Sony had to have some kind of technical advantage on MS when designing consoles. AMD has been a MS partner for 10 years before they became a Sony partner.

AMD had a much better customer in Sony this past gen as well, likely double the business they got from MS.

As far as RDNA1 vs RDNA2, again RDNA1 doesn't support hardware accelerated RT only RDNA2 does so people shouldn't be making too many assumptions one way or the other.

Just console maybe but overall, no.

These aren't guys grabbing retail GPUs off the box either, they are semi-custom fabricated APUs and it's quite possible to add next gen improvements on a current gen skeleton, so people shouldn't be making too many assumptions one way or the other.
