Well, you liberals just can't stop throwing s*** at your master. You misheard him as usual;
This could very well be the argument his people come up with today.

Didn't realize Yang's UBI would make people choose on assistance programs choose either them or $1000. Makes sense I guess but seems like the poorest people would benefit the least.

It depends on what benefits they are on, it wouldn't impact Medicaid etc but cash like systems yeah they would choose. UBI is something you are guaranteed and isn't means tested so that would be an advantage, they wouldn't have to worry about congress getting in a fight and it being taken away, they wouldn't have to worry about a few extra hours at work putting them over their income line and having the benefits cancelled etc. He also said that UBI is just the first step it's not the beginning and the end.

If they have to choose between food stamps, reduced rent, etc., or the UBI, then it's net even and of zero benefit.

Could be a negative if you are on disability or something and now you see prices potentially being raised or rents being increased and you can't even get any of the money that is causing it.

It's not meant to be supporting people it's meant to be a way to bring people up who are struggling, and as he said it's just the first step and I'm sure they will work something else out for those at the bottom. I could be wrong but I don't believe anyone who is receiving benefits through a state will have an issue it's only those receiving federal benefits that would have to choose.

I know in California $1000 a month per adult in the house would be a hell of a lot more than what those people got in food stamps, the maximum SNAP benefit a person can get is $194 a month (average is $134) each additional person it goes up but to a lesser amount each time. You'd need 7 people in a home before you reached a potential maximum of $1k a month in food stamps but on average 8 people only brings in $868 and after that it's a max of $164 a person. If you have two adults in your home you are getting $2K with UBI, every adult is $1K so as soon as your kids turn 18 that's another $12K a month in household income until they move out.

This is from his website.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is based on earned work credits. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a means-tested program. You can collect both SSDI and $1,000 a month. Most people who are legally disabled receive both SSDI and SSI. Under the universal basic income, those who are legally disabled would have a choice between collecting SSDI and the $1,000, or collecting SSDI and SSI, whichever is more generous.

Even some people who receive more than $1,000 a month in SSI would choose to take the Freedom Dividend because it has no preconditions. Basic income removes these requirements and guarantees an income, regardless of other factors.

Are there some on disability who might like to work more, but have a concern that to much income could impact their benefits? It would be nice for them to get UBI unconditionally as an alternative. Also, I'm not sure what it's like to go through the beaurocratic process of enrolling in benefits and staying in the program.

For those who can't work at all, it might it's debatable whether they should switch at all, though an able bodied care giver or family member receiving UBI could itself be extra indirect aid if their taking care of a disabled relative.

Wow I'm an idiot. I had to read the question like 5 times to figure out what the hell they were going for. I'm not sure which is worse though, the fact that Bernie supporters depend on what the eventual nominee is or Yang voters just straight up saying no.

Yang definitely has some conservative supporters so that at least makes sense. Bernie people are just looking to take the ball and go home.

A lot of Bernie's support comes from people who otherwise wouldn't vote and people keep forgetting that. Still though that stat is maddening, Trump needs to go.

The timing this is interesting since not even Hillary is fully on board with supporting the nominee if it's Bernie. Is the party asking for vote loyalty it can't even get from the Clinton wing?

Oh well, I feel like this poll is just a reminder of how our system should really have a Runoff or Ranked Choice option. If the poll was conducted that way the "It Depends" part would be replaced the preferred 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice candidates people would go for.

She did tweet that she would support whoever wins

I think the main point is that it shouldn't "depend" when the other option is Trump.

This time I'm probably voting Democrat though Biden is a very underhwhelming candidate. I hope it doesn't come down to him, but I'll hear him out in the General debates and maybe a VP pick will sway me depending on weather I think Biden will sleep through his term or possibly just pass away in office.

Honestly the more I think about it, the first term is just going to be putting the government back together again after Trump. Just think of all the people he's run out of important positions.

4 years of a boring, uneventful Presidency sounds ok by me after what we've gone through.

f***ING IDIOTS!

Being anti-trump is not a platform. As long as they can make it about the "racist" Trump they don't need to have a platform that actually benefits the voters. Biden, Clinton, and Klouchbar are all controlled opposition candidates. Bought and paid for plants who are only there to pull the party to the center.

There's a reason why Biden has spent his whole career caving to conservatives.

What would be the point of having Biden in there just so he can gut social security and turn over what's left to Goldman Sachs to "manage"?

Why? Because Trump is racist? He's evil? It's a spun narrative. He's doing what got him elected. He's being pragmatic. Rick Santurom tried to do the same thing, he just wasn't any good at it.

Would it make sense if Mitt Romney ran as a democrat and got the nomination? Would Bernie Supporters be expected to support him because he was going up against Trump? It's nonsense.

Yang definitely has some conservative supporters so that at least makes sense. Bernie people are just looking to take the ball and go home.

This is because Charles Murray wrote a book about the need for universal basic income. Suddenly Charles Murray wants to give away money now that it's the rural areas that are being starved of resources. Most of those books he wrote were about justifying harsh cuts to entitlements and educational spending.

I think that's ridiculous to say that Bernie voters "wouldn't otherwise vote". These are the people who helped vote Obama into office. Bernie's rise was mainly because of online outlets like The Young Turks and Jimmy Dore. These people were Obama's staunchest supporters up and til about 3 or 4 years ago. Saying that they are less likely to vote isn't based on anything. That's an old narrative about "hippy voters".

Honestly the more I think about it, the first term is just going to be putting the government back together again after Trump. Just think of all the people he's run out of important positions.

That's what they'll say, but the reality is that it's just them finding excuses not to do anything. It's always the democrats doing everything at a snails pace :elol: and the Republcians who seem like they have changed things drastically in that same time period. This is because people like Biden are there to cave and act as if they "did everything they could". They are all liars.
