Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey

Looks can be deceiving my Swedish friend
Tell me about it! I once hooked up (drunk, at 2am) with this girl, she definitely wasn't a looker, quite the opposite, but looked hygienic and fairly fit. So anyway, got to her apartment, at this point I'm getting sober and my friends start texting me to get out as fast as possible or I'd regret it in the morning. I thought about it but taxis are expensive her and I was tired so I thought I'd give her what she wanted and get out as soon as the first buses started going in the morning.... I stayed until late evening the day after, probably the BEST sexual experience in my life.

I went and saw it, first time I've ever been to the movies by myself, enjoyed it, quite a different style then what we're used to from comic book adaptions, but ultimately some of it felt forced and cheesey. 7/10

The movie is not doing well. Expectations from movie sites were around 50 to 55 mil. WB's expectations were 45 mil.

Based on Thursday and Friday's ticket sales, it's looking like a debut of 33 mil for this opening weekend.

That's just the US and as articles like to point out when it suits them the international market is much bigger and more important now days.

Aquaman only did around $200 of its 1B+ in the states.

Also still has a China release once the virus is contained

Honestly, I love women in all different colors and sizes, but a movie with an all female cast isn't looking like the best choice if you want successful movie. Granted, at least this one seems okay in regards to critics, but there hasn't been a successful female movie since og Charlie's angels.

It was fun.

Asia isn't interested in this movie. The expected international box office also underperformed. The good news is that the film cost under 100mil to make. But there is the 3x the cost to make profit rule in Hollywood. If the movie has any legs and can get a sizable amount of blu-ray/digital/rental sales then it should at least break even.

Now all the "this movie failed because nobody wants to see feminist bs" hot takes will flood the youtubez now.

I'm just glad that Black Canary is ya know........black.

Saw it last Thursday. I personally thought it was good overall, funny, lots of action, and had a slick style to it's presentation. The actual Birds of Prey, while definitely an important part of the movie, take a backseat to Harley for sure, which can be seen as plus or minus depending on who you are. The actual BoP could have used a bit more character development, but I also felt like they got what was needed in for the most part. If I had one complaint, it's that Black Mask (main villain) and VIctor Zsasz are a bit too comedic and out going at certain times, but it wasn't bad either. I'd easily recommended it overall. Some of the action scenes are a ton of fun to watch, and despite my complaints about Black Mask and Zsasz, they come across as sadistic and super violent. I'd definitely would love to see Black Mask return to the cinema though.

Are they wrong?

Hell if I know. It's usually the knee jerk response though when a female led movie doesn't do well.

Btw, Margot Robbie doesn't do it for me.

Yeah... she's like a less charismatic Jamie Pressly. Looking at the rest of the cast and no one looks particularly interesting either, although I always had a thing for Rosie Perez.
I'd love a batman movie with only Harley and Mr J though, let them be a duo with equal amount of screentime. No idea who'd be a good joker for that... maybe Cameron Monaghan would work idk

8/10

Really picks up after the flashbacks and some really good action scenes.
McGregor steals it

Very good at going from normal to funny to sadistic in a single scene

"Warner Bros. learned this past weekend that Birds of Prey, otherwise known as Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), isn’t exactly search engine optimization (SEO) friendly. The sequel of sorts to Suicide Squad barely made a dent in the box office due to many marketing issues involving the film, and, as a result, Warner Bros. has changed the name of the movie to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey."

Which was originally the name during planning.

One thing is WB need to sort out the DCU Joker. You either keep Leto and make some changes or recast. End of day Quinn is pretty different compared to how she was in SS.

The fight team on John Wick worked on this right?

I can’t wait to watch this at home. I’ve heard nothing but good things.
