As insane (in a good way) that this games looks. Do you think it’s straying too far from the originals?

Im playing Doom 1-3 and they had a lot of atmosphere and creepiness. The new Dooms as awesome as they are are nonstop mayhem.

I never spent much time with Doom 1-2, but really enjoyed 3 and agree that game took the atmosphere and creepiness to the next level, whereas 2016 is more in your face frantic action. I wouldn't mind a spin-off where you play as a more generic marine like the 3rd game (I think) where it's more like Alien Isolation or something.

Doom sort of feels like they took a look at Quake in terms of darkness and intensity of game play. I think in the last run before 2016 they were a little to dark visually.

Now in Eternal things have some brighter stages and graphics, but I think the direction is to have a lot of contrast between dark and light or Hell with some Heaven while also filling in some Lore to the game and Doom Slayer.

Exactly. The new Doom’s feel too much like Quake,
Quake was awesome in its own right. But they had separate identities.

I think this is a good direction for the series. In my opinion, this is more closer in spirit in how the games should be played, and Doom 3 is the one the venture pretty far from the source material. Going a more horror route. It's still a fine game in it's own right, but it lacks the action and intensity of the first two. Doom Eternal is definitely about showcasing that intense gameplay and innovating upon it. I think there are still a splash of horror elements there, but I most fans were yearning for a more fast paced style. Plus, to be quite frank, you can only go back to hell and Mars so many times.

I had no interest in another doom if it was going to be another game where all we see is orange sky and the insides of bases, the fact that this game looks so much more colorful and varied is a positive thing IMO.

Agreed, I'd love to see Doom Slayer in a jungle type of environment.

Played through the intro level. Boy does it play fast. And it is well optimized. On my PC I'm getting 100+ fps on my ultrawide.

I heard good things about the game, but the pace may be too much for my old ass. I mean 2016 is already pushing my limits of tolerance in pace & I heard this game is even faster & tougher.

Besides, these days, downloading any games (due to big S file size) takes days, & shops are close, so I can't even get the "lesser" console version on Disc.

This weeks download (yes week as in 7 days estimate (so far its 1GB per hour with my slow S 650kb/s download speed)) has been booked for warzone.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I might get this because the place I'm at has crappy satellite internet.

I'm friends with one of the stores at the mall which is now closed, but I wonder if their Wifi is still on and if I could download it from the parking lot with my gaming laptop in the car lol.

Well I’m only on the second level but I’m not sure what I think about the game. I’m a giant fan of Doom 2016 and this game feels very different. It’s faster and more difficult but so far not as satisfying. The enemies aim seems greatly improved and they always seem to be behind you, so if you are fighting one enemy another is almost always shooting you in the back.

I don’t know, hopefully I “get it” soon and the gameplay changes make more sense but as of now they seem to be for the worse
