Horizon: Zero Dawn

That’s always been my feeling with Microsoft’s 1st party as well. I mean yeah they could probably stagger PC releases a bit. But a sale is a sale.

I know it’s not an apples to apples comparison though.

Yeah, that is pretty sad. Even worse when you factor in the game is like 2 years old. Doesn't diminish anything at this point.

It doesn't diminish anything period regardless of when it releases. It just assures more people can experience a great game, and there is 0 wrong with that unless you are a delusional, psychotic fanboy.

It does, but not really on the consumer end. For example : It can diminish platform appeal. Although, you would need more than 1 big game going to PC.

It doesn't diminish platform appeal to those gamers such as myself who don't care for PC gaming. I don't care if Sony released their entire exclusive catalog on PC day and date of release on console. I'd still purchase and game on the Playstation console.

Shocking! Some people will still buy consoles. Who would have thunk it.

Yeah. I've got a killer PC, but I still prefer the simplicity of console. PC having such a huge power advantage is really the only thing drawing me to it.

The game deserved a bigger audience. I got the complete edition or whatever it is called with the frozen wild DLC & it got a beefy 80+ hours of gameplay from me.

Was Frozen Wild the only DLC? I'd happily jump in for some more mecha monster action if they released more content.

it is, and worth 8-15 hours worth of gameplay depends if you bother to do side missions. however be warned, its significantly harder. the new machines like fireclaws makes thunderclaw looks like a little kitten.

Jumped back into this game as I never got to the DLC. Accidentally bought it twice since I already had the Complete Edition either from a previous sale or maybe PS+. Either way it didn't take long to remind me why I love this game so much. This also the first I'm able to play it in 4k/HDR and still amazing for a nearly 4 year old game.

Finished up Frozen Wilds this past week and really enjoyed it, so here are my thoughts on it with a few small spoilers. It helped expand the world a bit including a tribe we didn't know much about. I do find two glaring issues with it. First I had already beaten the game, maxed out level, upgraded everything etc. This game seems like it would be better played during a normal game play through. A few instances of doing things Aloy's comments made it seem like she had no idea what was happening when in fact it was something I already already figured out while playing the main game. This is coupled with the fact that after you beat the final cauldron and speak with CYAN, the question/answers offered make it seem like you would come back to her over time as you figure out the wider world during your play through. Not a huge issue but just kind of odd how it is done.

My other issue are the new enemies. While their design is awesome I find their combat erratic and new abilities don't fit in with the world. These enemies are so fast compared to others that they seemingly warp across the ground at you, and some of them do impossible mid-air corrections to attack you if you have to dodge. Some of their new atacks also defy logic in a game that is for the most part heavily grounded in reality. Two of them can summon ice or molten lava at will from the ground, so it's almost more magical attacks than anything else shown in the game. Because of the strength of these enemies, how fast they attack, etc., it pretty much made it useless to attack them with anything other than the blast sling over and over and over until they died.

Other than that though like I said the world and lore building of this game is amazing and it was great to get more back story. I don't think I'll find the time to play through the game again before the sequel but I'm glad I got to at least play the DLC after finally getting a 4K TV, because the game looks absolutely beautiful for one going on 4 years old.

The 60fps adds a whole new level of immersion to the game with the increased responsiveness. Also the 4K CB technique used by GG is so good here, the picture is crisp AF. Having a fun time getting back into it and learning the controls again then I will try to platinum and start The Frozen Wilds DLC. Heard it's great.

Another great analysis. The PC NXGamer used here to compare is "supposed" to be more powerful or comparable to the PS5 I believe.

Anyone that knows anything about the Horizon Zero Dawn PC port knows it was a pretty poor port even after the 800 patches.

Days Gone and Death Stranding were much better ports.
