What movies have you seen recently?

Just watched the new animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge and I really liked it. I'm a huge MK fan so I'm not the most objective, there are some animation choices I don't agree with like Quan Chi's face and a few others but overall it was nicely done and they didn't shy away from violence and gore. It's worth a watch if you are a Mortal Kombat fan for sure.

Couple weekends ago I watched Tremors. Still a fun movie for sure. I have previously seen maybe 2 and 3 but definitely nothing newer than that. Not sure if I will watch beyond the first one this time though.

This past weekend I watched the first TMNT movie. Been a long time since I had seen it. Plan on watching the second movie this weekend and unfortunately it doesn't look like Netflix has the third. Wonder if it's still in a box at my parents...

Watched rise of Skywalker.

I'm not a big fan of the new movies, I liked the second one probably only because the last battle was cool, Donnie yen and that Darth Vader scene.

I just don't care for the new characters, the story feels weak, the lightsaber battles don't even come close to the prequels, honestly the new movies gave me a bigger appreciation for the prequels, might start watching the clone wars series I heard it was good.

Superman Red Son: Good
DC animated flick based on the comic series. I must've forgotten about reading it because the story seemed new to me. Very interesting look through the Cold War. Great story and characters.

Guns Akimbo: Interesting
It's a decent action-satire. Injected with social commentary and ludicrousness. In the same vein as that Jason Stathom adrenaline series.

I think the prequels went a little too far with the lightsaber battles, the Jedi jumping 30 feet up or doing a bunch of unnecessary flips etc was a bit over the top.

Technically that isn't the second one. Rogue One was seperate movie that tied into the original trilogy. I don't think anybody likes the actual second movie of this trilogy.

I enjoyed Force Awakens, but the other 2 are meh. Rogue One was decent but I feel it is too long has too many drawn out periods.

Onward: good. Wholesome story that was interesting throughout. However, the ending was a slight bit dissatisfying.

Fantasy Island: Waste of time. Basically an origin story for Tattoo, and his story isn't even interesting.

Underwater: Worth a watch if you have spare time. Nice homage to Aliens. Not a huge fan of some of the shots (murky, obstructed scenes), but nice if you're a fan of Aliens.

Sticking with older movies (based on my age) I watched the first Lethal Weapon last night. Always a good time. I think the series is only available on Netflix until May 1 so not I'll get through them, but it's not like there's anything else going on.

Tonight is pizza night and TMNT Secret of the Ooze.

The Way Back: Starring Ben Affleck. Decent watch if you're into stories about alcoholics who try to get their lives back together by helping a group of troubled kids. Standard fare for these types of movies.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: surprisingly fun. The first 1/3 of the movie was BAD, with unlikeable characters. I wanted to give up on it but I stuck through it and was rewarded with a decent movie. For some reason, I thought this movie was directed by M. Night and was a compilation of short films. M. Night had nothing to do with this movie, and it was one complete film. In fact, it was produced by Guillermo Del Toro.

Oddly enough, I gave it nearly 2/3 out of 10 on IMDb. I gave it a 6.

The Rhythm Section: BORING

It's the most boring revenge film I've ever seen. Smart girl hits rock bottom after her fam is killed by a terrorist. She gets trained by Jude Law to be an assassin. The action is like 20% of the film. The rest of it is pensive gazes.

Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's Revenge

Nice cartoon that attempts to flesh out the story of the video game, but still fairly shallow. Includes over-the-top violence to keep it from being a typical good v. evil story.

Finally saw "The Rise of Skywalker" it was MUCH better than "The Last Jedi" yeah it was rushed but they had no choice because Lucasfilm decided to do a trilogy without a roadmap. It felt more like Sci Fantasy than any other movie in this trilogy and I like that because that's what Star Wars is supposed to be.

Extraction - 7.5/10

that "one shot" scene was great, i really like that action movies are trying to do more of these rather than hiding everything behind shaky cam

John wick has had a very positive impact on action films

Continuing old movies I watched a lot over the weekend. Definitely more bored with no sports.

Lethal Weapon 2
Bloodsport
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Police Academy

Hoping to watch the last two Lethal Weapons but pretty sure they're only on Netflix until May 1. Aside from the first one, I feel like 4 is probably the next to be shown on TV the most so I'm fine skipping that one in my run through.

Yeah no sports sucks. I miss my footy.

Sky have all 4 leathal Weapon movies on demand. I watched them all a few weeks back. Still fun movies, although 3 is a little weak.
