Why is Howard Stern an acceptable person to endorse someone but Joe Rogan just saying he was going to vote for someone else had people calling for his cancellation and for Bernie to reject his "endorsement"? I think both are fine but why the hell do people have such a double standard when it comes to their candidate?

It was a dumb controversy but whatever controversy existed came about because of Bernie desperately tweeting about and not because Rogan sort of said he might vote for him. Nobody cares that Howard is voting for Biden because Joe Biden didn't tweet about like it and embrace it.

Funniest part about the Rogan thing was it wasn't even a real endorsement. Which just made Bernie look desperate. And Rogan is voting for Trump so Howard>>>>Rogan easy.

Yeah it was silly to claim it as an endorsement, he just said he was probably going to vote for him. He also said that he didn't really believe in Bernie until he had him on the show and that he won him over. He also liked Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard who had appeared on his show. He just doesn't like standard politicians. I know he's worried about Biden's mental health as are many of us but he'd still be a lot better than Trump.

Rogan also only gets his news from online sources like The Hill, Kyle Kulinski and Jimmy Dore all of which are much harder on the Democratic party and Biden because they want the party to move to the left and be less corporate, they don't spend anywhere near as much time exposing all of Trumps BS as they do talking about Biden or the Democratic establishment. I agree with their viewpoints personally but at least the hill which is supposed to be news needs to cover Trump directly more, I've tweeted to both hosts several times about the fact that they virtually ignore all of the things he says and does and when they do call attention to anything negative it's always blamed on his advisors and not him directly even though he hired those people. If Biden had said people may be able to inject/drink bleach or lysol they'd still be laughing about it now but I never heard them mention it once.

I still don't think he would have hurt Biden, a republican who's more libertarian thinking isn't going to vote for Biden anyway, he would have hurt Trump more than anything IMO.

You would think so but exit polls showed Gary Johnson voters to be a pretty even split so who knows.

I didn't know Stern said he was voting for Biden until just now when I googled it and came across a lot of Bernie people type news like you mention complaining about the media not covering it like Rogan. I don't really buy that the Rogan thing was a particularly big story and whatever it was was gone in a couple days but even if someone believes it was do they really think any serious media should dedicate time to who Howard Stern is voting for in the middle of a pandemic? That is without considering that the primary is over and its apples to oranges anyway. These people may prefer Biden and they may even vote for Biden but I wonder if they don't want Trump to win just so they can say "I told you so" and people like that don't really believe in anything real like Bernie does.

Yep, there's lots of libertarians on both sides. You'd think libertarian would be more what the GOP used to be (and still sort of pretends to), but they pull a lot of people from the center left too (I'm probably a good example).

Amash probably would have been a non-factor but who knows. If things are close like last time, every vote will matter.

Personally, libertarians are what I want, but I know I have to settle for slightly left of center Democrats.

They were going after him pretty hard with the Bernie thing, especially on twitter. Establishment dems were calling him transphobic and racist, people called him alt-right etc none of which is true, they were calling on Bernie to denounce him and reject his endorsement. The guy is a comedian and has made some jokes that were in poor taste but if you ever listen to his show and not judge him by how he looks he's actually a very thoughtful and fair minded guy, he's mostly liberal except on a few issues.

They called him transphobic because he's made jokes about the way Kaitlyn Jenner's transition was marketed to such a ridiculous degree which it was, he also said that trans athletes shouldn't be able to compete with women in athletic competitions and I agree 100% on that, it's just not fair.

I just don't see how Biden would appeal to that voting block, Andrew Yang? yes but Biden? it's hard to see.

But you have to consider a lot of people that are voting third party aren't necessarily doing so because they agree with that party.

Much like 2004 I would assume that third party voting would go down though so I don't see it making the difference either way this time.

A lot of the 3rd party voting comes down to keeping an additional option on the ballot. People know they aren't going to win, but in most states you have to get a certain threshold of votes to keep the party on the ballot. At least here in NY Gary Johnson was on the ballot, not a write-in.

That was my thought process in 2016 (that and knowing I was in NY and my presidental vote was meaningless anyway). I feel it is important to keep a 3rd option on the ballot, even though I'm fully ok with voting Biden this time around.

I just want Biden to pick a reasonably respectable human being for VP that can sell us on policies. I follow Biden on Facebook and most of his news feed is feel good platitudes more than plans.

I know this is hella old, but with all that extra room you think they'll build his library there and only include his books, which were probably printed in China
