Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone - shutting down September

Game is rubber banding like crazy tonight.

The game has been completely broken for me for the past few weeks. I wanted to try Hardhat, but just get tons of lag.

Half the server can insta-kill me with one bullet, but the kill cam shows me just sitting there not moving? I get 5+ hit markers on people and do nothing.

I also constantly see people using flags of other countries as their player icon. Obviously that doesn't necessarily mean they are playing from there, but it seems odd that the guy with France's flag as an icon is laggy as heck for me in the US.

The theory is that the skill based matchmaking is jumping continents to find a player in our skill bracket and of course causing all sorts of issues. They need to turn this nonsense down or off completely.

It is kind of ironic that they brought back a MW3 map, as that game for me had the worst netcode and lag comp, and that's what this game is now.

After the last update I did what you suggested and deleted the game and reinstalled. It helped with the lag.

but f***, I don’t want to nor should I have to do that every time there is an update lol. Game is broken if that’s what it takes haha.

I'll give it a try, as honestly I was going to uninstall anyway at this point. The whole game just feels off for me.

Wonder if its an Xbox thing. I don't experience it on PC, at least not on a regular basis.

I uninstalled the game on Xbox and reinstalled. It downloaded all night, but now seems to play a little better. Granted it was only a few games on my lunch hour, but that weird lag seems a lot less. I still get wrecked by SBMM, but at least it felt like players were just better and not just me lagging out. At least when I hit my shots people would drop.

Might be worth reinstalling if you are on Xbox, assuming you have the bandwidth.

Didn't you try the whole clear cache procedure?

I hope they would add that to singles too. People coming back in solo mode on Warzone just feels off to me. You die solo, you are done and start another game.

My game is definitely better since reinstalling. Seems way more than just a placebo. I'm getting crushed, but that's just the usual SBMM.

Even in 6v6 the game just puts 1-2 god tier players in my lobbies. One guy went 22-1 (other team of course) and a guy in my team went 2-19 in TDM.

I wonder if by now most of the casuals have either dropped off or gotten good enough to where they aren't scrubs anymore. I feel like I'm the worst player left in the game. At least if I camp like the sad old man I am I can get some kills.

Nah. The Stimulus Solos wss great. Had a nice flow, seemed people were more active, was just more enjoyable.

Classic Solos would make the worst part of solos worse.

For anyone with a PS4, COD WW2 is the free game for June and supposedly dropping sometime today. Will be interesting to play a game prior to the strict SBMM (not sure if WW2 had it at all or just a little?)

I remember WW2 being random on how good the other team was going to be. I was pretty good at that game. Plus they had a Shipment only play list that was fun because the spawns were manageable.

I played 3 games and finished 1st on my team the very first one (as a level 1 player with no customizations). I was matched against people much higher level. Just missed the top 3 overall.

It was fun. I even got thumped one game, but it didn't feel artificial. I feel like I can keep playing and level up and actually get better. Sometimes I'm going to win, sometimes lose. Much better than going .95 every single game.

I remember enjoying TDM in that game it had some good maps.

Are you getting better though? Playing people worse than you teaches you nothing. If anything, it will make you worse.

Getting better at games comes down to 2 things. 1)Understanding the core mechanics. 2) Understanding how people play. People play campy. So, slow peeking corners gives them the advantage. But, if you jump shoot through doors, around corners, etc, the you give yourself a big advantage. I bet you don't jump shoot, do you? Be honest.

Because I'm average, I still play a lot of players better than me. There's plenty of opportunity for me to learn from better players but without getting my teeth kicked in every single round.

No, I don't jump shoot. I can't play that style, but I don't camp. I flank. I get by on map smarts and patience, because my straight up FPS skills won't cut it.

My big gripe with SBMM is that I'm constantly matched with people who are making crazy good jump shots, and I'm never going to compete with them. Even if I practice and get within a tenth of a second, it still will be too slow. If it is "skill based", why am I getting matched with people beyond my skill? That makes me turn into the camper holding angles.

All I want is a fair number of "regular" players in my games so I can have fun and maybe pop off from time to time.

It seems to be common theme with you. You say you want to see you get better but you always shutdown any suggestion on how to improve. Why can't you play that style? You need to adapt and learn more skills if you want to actually get better. If you want to go beyond.94 every game then you need to change how you play in someway or another.

You can't blame SBMM for you not getting better.

I get the "have fun" part. SBMM means sweaty everymatch....which takes its toll.

You are twisting what I'm saying. I work to improve. SBMM makes improving impossible. Am I getting better or worse? I have no idea. Are my loadouts good or am I picking the wrong guns? Again, there's zero feedback. I keep getting thrown in with very good players, so maybe I am much better? I kind of doubt it though.

I do improve at anything I put time into. The one thing I'm realistic about is my FPS skills. I'm pushing 50 and even in my PC gamer days in my 20s I was average at best with aim. If I stick to a gun and loadout, I'll naturally improve a little.

I've also been playing games a long time, and I don't have a lot of room for improvement in other areas. I know how to adjust in mid game and how to use the map and flank (so many players just pick a tactic and never adjust mid-game). If you run into all campers one round and rushers the next, I adjust. I mean, COD isn't rocket science. I've been playing this since the very first game.

Ok. What were you doing to improve in your last match? Or did you just do what most average players do and just went through the motions. Just putting in time isn't enough. Eventually you hit a wall.

SBMM, FPS skills, age, those are excuses. Will you be a pro player, not likely, but none of those things stop you from improving. Learning a new skill will improve you. Record your deaths and see why you died or if you could have done something different. Try a different playstyle and try to learn why it does or doesn't work.

There is plenty average players can do to improve, if they really want to.

Best way to improve in COD is stop camping. Push the areas you know people like to go, push the ways you know people will be coming from. Only time you should stop is to watch area you know people are about to enter then start moving again. Work on your reflexes and aiming and try to be quick.

As usual, I don't even know what we're discussing anymore. You just auto-reply with something I didn't say. Gets kind of old to be honest.

I do try to get better, but SBMM prevents me from even knowing if I am better or not. Maybe I am better? I have no idea.

Yep, for as much as people complain about camping, the top players are almost always running and gunning, or at the very least moving around a lot. The most aggressive players dominate my games.

Not to mention the bad spawn system really makes standing still a bad idea. When I am playing really poorly I notice it is when I sit in my own spawn far too long.

I've been trying to learn marksman rifles more. I'm still a little potato but it is great when I can 2 shot someone with an SKS.

Apparently I'm too obscene for COD. I tried to rename one of my weapon variants "1" and that was called profanity. Just the number 1.

Funny how people can use racial slurs as their name.
