The spaces between realities!
So in the past couple of days I've lost Facebook friends (lol), a personal friend and had some hard nearly in tears conversations with my gf and members of her family.

If your response to "black lives matter' is the absent minded rebuttal "well...all lives matter." You are either being willfully ignorant or you just don't get it!

For much of history in the western world black lives have NOT mattered. In the USA there has never been a point where whites, asians, or Latinos have been systematically opposed and persecuted. The closest analogy is native Americans in America and they aren't even being choked out and killed in the street by police.

Yes ALL lives matter, but the difference is is that for most of history black lives have not mattered and even today some people think they don't matter.

It's like people who say 'all lives matter not just black lives' are forgetting which race has been persecuted and is still being profiled!!!

f***ing ridiculous logic!
Anyway that is my rant! Shout out to Ashton Kutcher and Seth Rogen for standing up to the 'all lives matter' trolls on twitter. Bunch of respect for those two!

I'd say Asian Americans have had some s***ty spells too (see Manzanar) but everyone else is definitely playing for second and anyone who doesn't see that can go f*** themselves with a porcupine

I don't do politics on Facebook. In fact, for that reason I don't friend any family or relatives because they can't stop with the bullsh;t.

A few years ago, I took a break from Facebook and when I got back on out of boredom, I just friended a few people. Currently, I have 7 Facebooks friends. It's pretty chill except for one vocal Trump supporter but I just ignore his MAGA posts.

I dunno, I find Facebook to be bizarre and kind of socially unnatural as well as a mostly negative influence. Even worse, I think it's created and managed by Zuckerberg who may have a personality disorder or weirdly lacks empathy.

Facebook as a medium created by this weird deceitful fvcker shouldn't be taken or used seriously.

a lot of people just don’t get it and most of them won’t, ever. To a lot this is just the beginning to understanding

Avoid politics on fb. Put many people on snooze because they spam my feed with political posts... always shared links rather than having something to say for themselves on the matter.

So, this all sounds too familiar to me. I peaced out of Facebook 3 days ago, and probably not going back until close to next year. I cannot take the way it makes me feel anymore. Either posts that I agree with get me riled up, or I want to dump family members.

I was actually just having a conversation with my wife about this exact topic, and she's more liberal than I am, but the current climate makes me way more on her side lately... To me, it's really as simple as having empathy for other individuals, plain and simple. Yes, all lives matter. We all should hope for that future. The problem is that when you use that slogan as a retort, you are completely missing the cause, and are simply refusing to recognize that there's a problem... you know one that comes up about twice a month, since the time everyone has cameras in their pockets. The one where the brutally of reality rears its ugly head?

Plain and simple, to deny Black Lives Matter, is to either deny there is a problem, or to not care that there is a problem.

Don't get me started on this blaming "Antifa" bullsh!t You know when calling anti-fascism terrorism you've completely flipped a b!tch on this country. We fought fascism in WWII and now it's clearly right here among us. It literally makes me sick, what passes for patriotism in the current political climate!

I literally don't look at anybody's posts on Facebook anymore. If they show up on my front page, they're people I haven't stopped following. No family members, or friends, who are still staunch trump supporters show up in my feed. Most of them don't follow me either. I set it up nicely. They really hate what I have to say and they couldn't take it anymore. I love it. Once in a while people will comment on one of my posts, but when they do I just say it's between them and their god when they have to explain why they worshiped a rapist, sexual assaulter, accused child rapist, great friends with a child sex trafficker, serial cheater, and a liar. Their comeback is, nearly always, and I'm not kidding, what about epstein's good buddies the Clinton's? My response is always, they can rot in hell for that too. There's no comeback, ever, because that's their shot and it didn't work.

But Hunter Biden!!!!

This is a real problem that has been created in our society. One political entity has pushed everyone into two, binary sides. It has gotten so bad, that people don't understand what "talking politics" is, because everything is political. We live in a stupid world where how you look at the coronavirus is based on your political side. I've seen people wearing a mask being called a "liberal". Liberal? Maybe they just don't want to catch the virus that is causing deaths all across the globe?

Talking politics would be talking things like tax policy, healthcare reform, etc. Real politics is boring.

Saying black lives matter is of course not political. What it is is a topic that certain people want to shut down, so they play the "political" card. That's because they don't want to talk about the issues that so desperately need discussion.

When it comes to social media, I have a simple rule - I follow who I follow and I ignore the comments section. The internet is filled with angry people.

Don't you think it is a bit hypocritical. Here we are in the midst of another uproar over racism and peoples first action is to single out a race. I find it kind of funny.

All races have been persecuted at sometime in history.

White people? For over 400 years?
Asians?
Latinos?

Are they still being beat and choked out in the streets?
Where is this happening?
What countries?
Are the police doing it?
How many times a year? Or month?

Sorry its not comparable.

Lol. Ok, dude.

Do you have any examples?
I'm genuinely asking and curious?

I never said all races haven't been persecuted throughout history at one point....but it is painfully obvious one race is still seen as less important and I can tell you it ISN'T Caucasians and I honestly don't know a time in history that they were ever persecuted because of their skin color.
It's about race and it always has been unfortunately.

I haven't been on Facebook at all this year. I didn't have many people to begin with and most that posted political stuff I just blocked their stuff on my feed anyways. I just don't feel the need to use that platform anymore anyways.

The red hat brigade responded:
I know y'all get shot by cops and had to work for no money with no rights for 400 years but you don't understand the pain of sunburns, so really you're the lucky ones - the sun will outlive all the cops, but we'll burn forever.

It’s the race it keeps happening to in America. A big majority of white America thinks nothing is wrong and get uncomfortable when black people force the issues into the open. I mean players couldn’t even peacefully protest in the NFL without white American turning into something else. I’ve seen what has went on in my area and State to black people for decades. Black Lives Do Matter and I hope those white people that don’t understand that get it through their heads someday.

If amerika is the whole world, prob not, but;
Many Asians (pakistani, indian, south east asians) in Saudi Arabia are basically slaves.
"Latinos " had it rough in amerika (https://www.history.com/news/the-brutal-history-of-anti-latino-discrimination-in-america).

But yeah, the things amerika did to the Afrikan slaves was prob the worst humanitarian crime in near history, comparable incidents would be the holocaust and ethnic cleansing in the Balkans and the tutsi genocide.
It's harder to find pure "white" incidents in the meaning of black vs white ads you amerikans know it. You could argue that the bosniaks are white but then the serbs are also, so that makes it hard to compare.

I think what's been going on in your country is fairly unique and I definitely think there's reason to look at the slave trade history for you to find answers to how you solve this eventhough the people living today clearly wasn't part of that horrendous crime. You'd think that it would've been stigmatized as in Germany after the nazis doing, but somehow it didn't pan out that way.
