Despite the fact that many if us seem to love this game, the user reviews on Metacritic average to 54/100. Critics rated it 60/100 on average.

Metacritic can cram it up their ass and break it off with no Vaseline mate.....just sayin'. ;)

My opinion and the opinion of this community in general are the most important.

I'm surprised the metacritic user reviews are even that high with all the hate. Seems so many ppl put energy in this game when they couldn't even play it bc they don't own an X1

Just beat Ryse on Centurion and I got to say it was a great game. I can honestly say that I really liked this game but I don't know if I'll ply threw it again as I have a hard time doing that for any game.Anybody that has an Xbox one needs to play this game just to look at it.

The part where you go back to Rome in the later stages, the lighting is so good I literally stood in the sunlight for a few minutes just rotating my character looking at him. Also looking at the walls, cobblestone etc..

Yep first time since playing crysis 1 I felt like games made a decent step up visually, that and the forest.

Well if you won't play it again you could always share it with an buddy through mail. Just saying:hehe:

How many orignal IP's scored terrible and then with the release of the sequel's get higher and higher ratings. BAA for me was way way better than City but it had the jump on the band wagon review's . If we support Ryse and it get's a sequel it will score in the high 8's and 9's !!!!!

My review of Ryse:

True Next Gen Graphics (as expected from Crytek)
Some good music (as expected from Crytek)
Really terrible story that really felt like a half-baked effort with poorly excuted plot twists (Even Lords of Shadows wasn't this bad)
Boring and repetitive gameplay

Edit:

Adittional details : short game

Yeah I've felt this way about most of the "AAA" games recently

See, Im doubting that you played it. It wasn't long enough to be boring and repetitive.

I should add I didn't find the story bad or poorly executed at all. I found some of the battle speeches emotionally stirring, and the ending certainly so. It is just for $60 I expect a game to last longer than a single evening... Which after finishing the game, there is literally no reason to play this one again.

Oh, also, while I haven't played through KZSF... I have played it now, and there is no Question. RYSE is the best looking next gen game.

I disagree with that extent. They may not have enjoyed it and if their reviews were their honest opinions, they're valid. They may turn out to be wrong for most people, but the whole point of reviews is for people to see what the reviewers thought of the game. It doesn't mean that it's a lack of ethics though. Same thing with people in the other forum bashing Polygon's review of KZ:SF - if a reviewer thinks the game is a turd, their ethical duty is to say that they think it's a turd, not to soft-sell it.

well lets be honest here other than the looks the game play of ryse is nothing special. it's game play that has been done 900 times before. Now this is not a bad thing to me as it's the type of game play I like so I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy the game. It's the same as God Of War it's pretty much the same game every time but the looks just get better but man I love me some GOW. SO I can understand why people would think the GOW games suck.

Maybe if ryse really brought something new to the table other than looks it would have gotten higher scores.

The only similarities are the finishing moves and the brutality. Ryse is focused on timing more than anything else, no fancy weapons or magic. Its about anticipating the enemies moves, using the right attack/deflect with the right timing. The better the timing the better, the rewards. Sure, you can play the game on easy and just button mash to victory but that defeats the point. Anyone experienced with this sortbofngames should play at Centurion difficulty.

I don't know. I'm a very experienced gamer, and I found Normal to be a somewhat decent challenge. If you're going to play through it just once, by all means, start on Centurion. But I'm enjoying playing through it a 2nd time, this time on Centurion. If my first play had been on that difficulty, the only thing left for me would've been Legendary, and that might've been too tough for me. I may eventually attempt it, though.

I wanna play Ryse, but I don't want to buy it at that price for a short campaign. :(

Played an hour of MP today. Total and complete fun. The leveling is kind of slow, but fortunately, it never seems to get old to slay barbarians. Co-op executions are pretty darn fun to pull off (you and your partner have to time things very closely), and the barbarians do well to swarm you.

The biggest hook are the unlockable equipment, which are randomly acquired through purchasing boost packs from money earned in battles. I will be spending a lot of time in MP. Very well done.

I'm sure it will have some legs from MP. hard to describe but it just looks like fun. You and one other guy against swarms of enemies in vivid, savage hand-to-hand combat. It sounds basic but when you see it in action, well I guess this is one of those games where the graphics and presentation make it so much better. I'm hoping for some campaign or single-player DLC, maybe some more missions.

Solid 8/10 worst case.

Graphics 10/10
Gameplay 8/10 just as repetitive as any video game is.
Story 6.5/10 just as strong as any video game story.
Multiplayer ?/10
Sound 9.5/10

I also got COD ghosts and finished the single player. Just wanted to see the graphical difference between the 2 and I liked both. Ryse is better obviously but COD for a up scaled 720p looked great IMO. I couldn't tell it wasn't 1080p basically. Back to Ryse if COD reviewed so high I can't see how Ryse didn't. I've finished all the GOW on the play station and Ryse is pretty much the same just less fantasy more down and dirty realistic.
