And how? The case could be made for ratchets rift jumping or the parallel world's in the medium, but to me I'm yet to see something to really make me want another console outside of all the marketing talk and "dev praises".

Maybe we won't see something for at least a couple years? I know Sony has some more games up their sleeve as does Xbox, but I dunno guys, I love seeing new games and I liked the variety of what I've seen from both showcases, nothing's wowed me, maybe I'm a miserable prick but I'm not exactly hard to please.

Things will start living up to the hype when people stop overhyping everything šŸ˜

This is the first console generation with a mid-gen upgrade. We've never seen that before. Normally you get a 5+ year jump.

4k is still 4k, 60fps is still 60fps. Hardly anyone has a TV that can go beyond that right now. All we're going to see is games hitting that target a lot more consistently.

I believe the "Next gen moment" you're looking for will not be seen until 2021 at the earliest. The earliest titles that started really utilizing the PS4 and Xbox One didn't start showing up until the next calendar year after initial release. I don't see the upcoming generation really changing that narrative. Now alot of this also hinges on Covid not messing with milestones that devs are trying to hit at home. We could potentially be waiting until 2022 for something really impressive.

People forget that the xbox one and PS4 launch titles were games that hardly anyone still talks about. I don't expect any PS5 or XBSX game to give a next gen feel on day 1.

I booted up Dead Rising 3 the other day. Fun game, but not a looker. Compare that to Days Gone.

Assassins Creed IV to Assassins Creed Origins was also a huge leap.

These games are next gen and look DRAMATICALLY better than what MS showed.

And to a extent....

I agree, nothing had wowā€™d me either and it has nothing to do with expectations. I was extremely impressed by launch titles in the previous 2 generations. This generation is going to be long and take a while to get going it seems.

I would skip out on buying at launch if it wasnā€™t for full BC and wanting to get the most out of gamepass

Don't those games run at your "unacceptable " 30fps? Wait while finish rolling my eyes.

Of course, I agree, but i dont bitch about 30fps either.

PS5 Horizon
Xbox Hellblade

3rd parties probably be too next gen until 2022

What is a next gen moment? It changes all the time.

Visually - Horizon 2 on PS5 and Hellblade/Forza 8 on XSX have potential.
Frames - Dirt 5 on XSX. Nothing outside dinky indies will do more.
SSD - Ratchet on PS5. Doubt you'll see anything better from the SSD all gen.

I'm Hoping EA bring some crazy real time damage physics with Battlefield 6.

Of course, I agree, but i dont b**** about 30fps either.
I will bitch about games not looking next gen because of cross gen and I will bitch about devs choosing 30fps.
Two different issues.

Sony definitely showed the potential of these machines better.

I do agree with Val that the current gen roots in Microsofts games is part of the reason.
The other part is that Sony simply has better artists and studios.

My main bitch for Microsoft is that they didnt show anything besides Halo.
Ninja Theory had nothing to show? The Initiative? Play Ground games (Fable)?

Microsoft is still limping along by using smoke and mirrors. When will we see results from these acquisitions?

MS should of showed off Gears 5 with enhancements.
The game is gorgeous on PC and MS claims it will look better on XSX.

Coalition is a team that has a clue.

2021/22 for Hellblade and Fable. Hard to tell when Aavowed might come.

Its f***ing odd that they showed zero Optimized for Series X games.

Because people would have destroyed them for not showing "new games".

I would have loved to see FH4 and/or Gears 5 enhanced, but that would have led to the "they have no new games!" chants.

MS can't win sometimes.

"We want to see new games!"

MS shows nothing but games.

"We want to see other games!"

Well I mean they made a big deal about it with that oversized tag. But then show nothing besides Ori? Which didnt look different at all.
We had months of talk over this pre show. Don't need it in the show. They can have another 30 minute DF video anytime they want.

The show was supposed to be about the future, not the past.

Where were their new games? Avowed got virtually nothing. Everwild got another s***ty showing. You might wan't to Work On your bulls*** narrative. Cause in reality it is...

"We wan't new games"

Ms shows a boring Halo 6 demo and a bunch of 3rd party AA games.

Yea I'll wait see some gameplay of horizon instead of cinematics, ratchet is a looker especially with the SSD, I'm most impressed by the segment between 57 sec and 1:04 that looks stunning.

I'm excited to see what playground can do, FH4 looks pretty damn incredible on the 1X easily one of the best looking games.

Yes on Horizon, lol Rachet and Clank it looks like a switch game.

I disagree with the idea of the Switch capable of anything like R&C, but I'm not seeing anything truly special about what was shown of the game.

He got issues... that is why I beat on him.
Lol
How on this earth are you beating on me?
You're the one who gets emotional every other post.
I've been doing these breathing exercises, mainly to try and become one with nature, but I think they might be good for your anger too, PM me and I'll send you some info.

There is no reason to get excited about cinematics, whether they are in-engine or otherwise. They can look dramatically different from gameplay.

Ratchet and Clank is the only thing I"ve seen so far that has shown gameplay that looks next gen.
