In the Louisiana court case, a woman identified as Leslie Norvell complained of a broken needle in her arm at the Sabine Medical Center in Many, about 80 miles south of Shreveport. She said the needle broke off in her arm while doing meth in 2019. Immanuel and another doctor prescribed Norvell medication but did not order a closer look at her arm through an X-ray or other medical tests, the lawsuit alleges.

Norvell went home and, because of the pain, sought help hours later from a hospital in Shreveport, where a surgeon removed the needle. Six days later, Norvell died.

The suit, lodged in January in Sabine Parish, alleges that Immanuel ignored Norvell’s complaints about an infected needle and failed to treat her or to alert authorities.

Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department deputies were unable to serve Immanuel with notice of the lawsuit in April because she no longer worked at the Sabine Medical Center. By then, she was with the Rehoboth Medical Center at 6728 Highway 6 South — a strip-mall facility near Mission Bend, according to her Facebook page.

Dick Knadler, a lawyer for Norvell’s mother, said Wednesday he was unaware that Immanuel had left Louisiana to work in Texas — or that her videos had gone viral.

“My client, the mother of Leslie Eason Norvell, is still saddened by the loss of her only child,” Knadler said in a statement. “Although Leslie had her personal struggles with substance abuse, many people loved her.”

I'm gonna be real for a minute and say that I don't think this is what happened. There's been a lot of talk on my local discord and reddit about how Stoney (mayor) and our Police Chief are putting a spin on it, because while there were apparently boogaloos dressed up in plain clothes here, the majority of the violence was done by local kids who are total "f*** the man" anarchists who are just looking to have fun smashing s***. A lot of damage was done to the university I work at, and we released security footage of said damage. The crowd is pretty diverse.

Now, that's not to say that these white nationalist dudes didn't play a part in it. I know for a fact that they've been going in and trying to splinter night time protesters and get them to cause violence, it's all over the local discussions by people who are out there night in and night out. They started Saturday's protest with a pro violence and pro damage flyer, but the people who really did the most damage were of all different races. It's tough out there, but I cannot sit here and act like it was only white nationalists when I know it wasn't.

I'm so so so sick of the night time protesters coming out nightly and trying to destroy my city. We have daytime protesters who are peaceful and you can feel the community vibing with them so well, it's powerful being there. Then as soon as the night hits it's like their message loses meaning and the court of public opinion is turning. I just want peace in my city, I don't want people shooting guns in the middle of the night trying to direct crowds to get them where they want to go like sheep. I don't want anybody getting hurt. I don't want local businesses (vast majority of the damaged businesses are owned by BIPOC) and property getting vandalized or damaged. I don't want these places to close because of the riots.

I just want my city back man.
