I could be wrong, but I didn't think any actually took payment. But I guess I never paid attention. I just assumed it was charged when it actually shipped.

I remember the MS store didn't take payment until shipping it (though, obviously, they'll need to validate the card). I may see if I can prepay it though.

Thanks for posting that. I was wondering what I do if I want to preorder but take advantage of the All Access program.
Not available in Canada on the 22nd. Means may not be able to get one this fall as I am sure units will go fast on the 22nd.

I guess since I already have a Amazon account and I’ve had stuff shipped to me with no problem for years through them I’ll preorder through them while I’m at work. Once I get off work since I live in a smaller area I’ll try Walmart and GameStop in store for preorders. Either way hopefully I’ll be covered.

Will the MS site be reliable for a preorder? I assume so but I haven’t done day 1 on a console since the first Xbox at Toys R Us.

I remember buying my launch X1 direct from them. It came very late on launch day (was like right before 8pm lol) but it was ok. Obviously a small sample size.

The MS store was what came through when I couldn't get an elite 2 controller (I was one of the very first preorders on Amazon and my order disappeared into nothing).

I'm going to be hoping for MS first and Amazon 2nd.

I don't remember what time my launch X1 came but I'm another datapoint for the late on launch day delivery on X1X. Still, I got them fine and I know that if I get it from MS, it will be fulfilled.

Bestbuy will be the best place to buy.
I would never buy directly from MS and it's terrible phone customer service.

I'm pretty much an anti-retail fanboy. I've had nothing but nightmare experiences with brick stores in the past years. I've had countless nightmares at Best Buy and Gamestop. I tried to buy something at Best Buy once and they ended up not being able to sell it, because it wasn't "in the computer". Anytime I go there, there's a group of them all trying to get the register to sell people things. It seems to take a big team effort to perform the simplest task. Don't even get me started about Gamestop.

Plus, honestly, these retail places could close at any point with covid and everything else going on. You'd think they will at least last through the holiday, but who knows? I used to browse Best Buy on lunch (was close by and nothing better to do) and it is just depressing now. You can just tell it is dying.

I'll take my chances with Amazon first to be honest. They are far from perfect, but I've had lots of orders go with no drama too. I only had the one experience with MS, and I didn't need any support because everything just worked.

Amazon has missed numerous delivery dates with me but I still use them because I call customer service and get more than a I'm sorry.
Bestbuy sometimes actually gets my stuff earlier than expected but if I have a issue they also have stellar customer service and I get compensated.

Gamestop has been a nightmare.

MS? you might get a sorry and just have the problem fixed if your lucky.

The problem is, if anyone flubs your pre-order, you're not getting one. All the customer service in the world isn't going to get something that is out of stock. (assuming Xbox is anything close to as hard to get as the PS5).

Actually, I'll change mine to Amazon....I think. Just checked and my Project Scorpio came from Amazon and had no issues.

You wouldn't get one from MS either if this was the case.

I never had a stock issue with any of these sellers.

If I did and it was amazon or bestbuy.... not only would it get resolved but id be compensated.

My PS5 pre-orders are from..
Target
Gamestop
Walmart

I don't trust the above except maybe Walmart but bestbuy and amazon let me down in this case.

Oh and I wouldn't order a console from Sony direct either just in case you got it twisted.

We are only 2 months from launch and nobody has a clue how big there game is? Seems unlikely. I 'm not saying they will nott be smaller, I understand the less duplicate files and Imagine compression will play a part, but if they were going to be significantly smaller then people would be talking. MS and Sony both know these puny sizeed SSDs are goinh to be an issue.

We're barely seeing anything running on these systems. Whatever gets released in 2020 will barely touch the capabilities of these systems or be representative of the generation unfortunately. As the gen progresses, they should get much more efficient with storage. May not see that with the first wave of cross gen games.

That's a good point on the Xbox side, but it seems nearly everything was running on PS5 hardware.

Anybody else nervous that bots are going to steal the preorders as soon as they're live? Like I"m pretty sure even if I click preorder at 11 AM EST on the dot it'll be sold out and that really butters my bread

Yep. Even if things go much more smoothly from the PS sale there still may be tons of demand, not to mention people who missed out on the PS might place a preorder for this. I'm hoping Sony is just trickling the pre-order stock so they don't oversell, but it is concerning.

I know for Amazon there's no penalty for throwing up a preorder. If I saw a PS5 right now I would put in an order even if I wasn't going to keep it.

I hope for the best, but plan for a total mess. I remember just trying to get movie tickets to the last big Avengers movie was an all day deal.

Woohoo ebgames doing SeriesX for $449 with a X1X trade-in down from $799 nearly half off the price.
