Mine is also from a movie. Videodrome is the title of an extremely fvcked kind of movie and could maybe be considered very early cyberpunk.
So..... back in the day before repetitive Recessions when I had a kind of steady job, I was sort of working on a broadcasting career which included driving a News Van but mostly sitting at a console doing the job known as Master Control Room operator which is running the station's main video switch board. It was sort of interesting, but mostly awful and I used to fantasize about strangling Maury Povich. I unfortunately had the task of running all these awful syndicated TV shows and most of them just pissed me off they were so terrible and the early morning Televangelists were just insane.
Anyway, somehow I stumbled across the end of this while channel surfing and I"m like "What in the actual fvck!?". It's hard to describe, but it involves different factions trying to use video technology to help humanity develop or to weaponize it.
I also feel this was way ahead of it's time having a very crude version of what strongly resembles a VR Helment.
Oddly enough, after the 2008 Recession I started over as a truck driver and now barely ever watch TV. When I do happen to see it, especially any kind of Network News, it's like someone giving me the finger in video form. It's so disgusting and it's staggering how poorly done it all is. However, I do have a great appreciation for new formats like Netflix.
Otherwise, I just really like fvcked up surreal movies in general.
