wait, what does that mean for other games, is the ps5 incompatible with ps4 sabes that you’ll have to start a new game?
I wouldn't jump to conclusions on anything yet.

Have they 100% confirmed if it's free or paid yet?
The base Miles Morales game is $50 if you get the Ultimate edition for $70 which is the same price as any other 1st party PS5 game you get both Miles Morales and the Remaster of the original game. It isn't free but you can always play the version you have now through BC on PS5.
I stupidly just bought the original game during one of Sony's big summer sales for $20. I now wish I'd have waited and put that $20 into the upgraded version! Oh well, no way of knowing. I also need to stop buying things I know I"m not going to be able to play for a while just because they're on sale!
I hear ya on purchases because of tempting sale prices. I still haven't touched Greedfall because the price was just too low for me to ignore ( I think it was $15). And it'll probably be on Gamepass in a week, lol.
I'm actually surprised by Sony's move with Spiderman and their recent game pricing increase. They have been so pro-consumer in the past. If you look at their first party stable of games on PS4 you won't find any microtransactions or any slimy DLC practices. But now they are charging for a game that's over a year old? I know, its a remaster but still its an old game and then raising prices to $70 is not cool in my opinion. I was planning on getting the Miles expansion but now I'm kind of leaning towards waiting for a sale as my own form of protest of Sony's recent moves to increase prices for new/old/remastered titles.
The remaster is only $20 so it's not like they are charging full price, they put more work into this than TLOU remastered when that came out on the PS4 and that was $40 if I remember correctly.
Good point. Also cheaper than what you have to pay to get next gen patch for Control. Sucks that some games / publishers are still trying to go the old school "pay us again for the same game" route, but I think / hope they'll see the backlash and reconsider how they handle these for future titles.
Side note: I"d been holding off on playing more of Last of Us 2 with the assumption we'd be getting a free next gen patch, but maybe I shouldn't assume it will be free.
