Wow is about the only thing I can think of. I wonder is this more Sony actively releasing games on other consoles or MLB making the demand to spread the game out to other consoles.

It makes sense for all involved really, I don't think Sony actually sells many consoles because of MLB the show and nobody else is making baseball games so going multiplatform with it is a good idea, especially since it's a licensed product and they have to pay a certain amount for it. I don't think MLB would have pushed Sony to do this because Sony doesn't have an exclusive MLB license, the Show is just their title and they could have just dropped the series if they were being pressured by the MLB to support competing platforms and didn't think it would be beneficial financially. If MS, Nintendo or any 3rd party wanted to make a baseball game they likely could have if they were willing to pay MLB for the license. Sony making games for Xbox and Nintendo? times are changing lol.

They made ganes for Sega.

i guess this counts as a multiplayer game that could reach a bigger audience.

Watch it hit PC only

The statement says "Additional console platforms beyond PlayStation"

MLB might not have forced it but they have to want it. Seems like a case where everyone wins.

It's not an exclusive license so I doubt MLB really had much say in it other than "Oh you will make more money which means we get more money and we'll see our brand have more representation in your industry? sure go ahead" lol Yeah this is good for everyone, there are some people freaking out on twitter acting like they've been betrayed, it's ridiculous.

This is really good news. For years I missed out on the only baseball game because I only recently got a PS. Most sports games on the market (EA Sports) are just horrible. This is one of the few franchises that is regularly a good game every year.

I bought MLB The Show on my PS3 and it was the best baseball game I have ever played. Granted, it was the only baseball game I ever played.

EA's baseball game was pretty good.

It was actually. They made an NCAA baseball game (since they didn't have the MLB rights) that was actually solid.

Interestingly enough there was a great baseball series called High Heat. MS bought it last I heard but did nothing with it.

Usually the only sports game I buy regularly. Not like there is anything to compare it to but I've always enjoyed them so more the better. I don't play them online myself but glad to see cross play will be there as well.

Cross play is good, just a shame that baseball is officially over for me now that the Cubs have won a WS and the Gators won a CWS and the game is still slower than dirt on crutches.

There will be no standard edition upgrade path from current gen to next-gen version of the game. If you are interested in having access to the game on both platforms, please wait for more info about the collector’s edition.

Collector's Edition probably going to be $100 in which case no go for me. Plan on still getting this for PS5 so if I don't have one by release I'd just get the PS4 version for this year.

Having trouble understanding why Sony is publishing this for Xbox.
2 reasons:
1. The contract was renewed with the MLB wanted to be on Xbox as well.
2. MLB wants to get every money as possible because we don't know how baseball season is going to be with covid this spring.

In the end, SONY was forced with no way out.
This can also happen with Spiderman as well.

I love baseball as much as the next buy but I still never understood why it is called the w"World" Series when they are just playing every team in the US besides one team in Canada?
