The Official: Automotive enthusiast thread

I've been rocking the same 2-door black Jeep Wrangler for 10 years as my daily driver out here in Colorado. I think I'll get a new vehicle in the next couple of years, and keep my Jeep as a recreation-only side project. It has definately been on some rather thrilling adventures up and down mountainsides, through streams, and over quite a few boulders and jagged rocks... because where we're going, we don't need roads!

...OK, we usually do need primitive roads, at least.IMG_20200902_205541_451.jpg

I do really like what I've seen of the Bronco, but not sure if what I actually need is a similar vehicle. Especially because I actually like the 2-door better. I guess I just have to see one in person, and drive it. Strange that I have not seen one of them out here yet. I definitely want something with AWD or 4WD capability out here, and probably need more space, but I just haven't made up my mind yet. This is the land of Subarus and Toyota Tacomas. I love those trucks, but they're just everywhere out here. Same with 4-Runners. I do like those, though. I cannot think of a Jeep that I like/dislike at the same time as the Renegade. It's actually almost exactly what I should want, but after driving one, it didn't do it for me. It kinda looks like something pretending to be a Jeep, if that makes sense.

I actually used to drive a manual Honda Element, and man, that ugly thing was the most useful and comfortable AWD vehicle that I've ever owned! I actually drove it from Florida to Alaska in a single trip, believe it or not. I also once used it for moving, and had a whole couch in it. If they ever made those again and they were as thoughtful about the design, I'd likely get one again. I don't understand why no other company has made back seats flip up to the sides like that, as well as side doors opening together with no pillar between them.

Anyway, still no idea what I actually want next except something with more room that an older 2-door Wrangler, which is probably MOST vehicles.

Trying out a new job :meh:

This is the Yard Truck used for shuttling trailers between yard staging and the docks. Quite a change from highway driving.

I did training this week. Got the weekend off then call in to see when I start the schedule.

Funny thing is it's at a Kimberly Clark paper location. Lots and lots of toilet paper so good for business lol.
So, look for the rav4 at the Walmart parking lot selling tp beside the van selling mask?

But seriously, wish ya the best good sir

It's a s***ty job, but home every day. Yeah trucking sets the bar really low.

I hope to save up and leave this job market after my apartment lease ends.

But running these weird trucks through a dust bowl yard during the Covid Pandemic makes me feel like I'm in a Mad Max gig.

You could totally pull off the look in your rav4, just need a cool jacket

You rather be in that truck than on that dock. I worked at a break facility for a bit and they kept the dock warm enough to protect the freight. In the winter it was flat out cold and beyond hot in the summer.

Well, our trucks have no A/C so I'm kind of glad this is an overnight shift. The heat does come up after running a while. The yard is bumpy and overtime always breaks the A/C. It also gets warm because I sit over the engine.

Also, I do have to get in and out to get the trailer doors so it's not like I get to stay in the truck all the time.

Oh well, I may tough it out here for a while and after my apartment lease is up, look into moving out of Alabama. The job market is awful here.
