That is extremely doubhtful.
Probably depends on if MS actually starts pumping out some games of their own this year, if Halo does launch this fall it would be a bit of a mistake to bring another multiplayer shooter over to distract from it. Of course they won't keep doing this forever, they can't if they actually want the service to make money, they already said it wasn't making much now and that's without spending a fortune on day one 3rd party games, I'm sure a Battlefield deal would cost a lot more than MLB.

I'm not betting my life savings on it but it's very possible. At least on console. Announcing it into Game Pass will increase the hype level for the game leading to more sales on the other platforms like PC and PlayStation. Battlefield needs a mindshare boost. Microsoft is also going all in right now. They aren't waiting until next year when their first party starts to turn the corner based on public information.

I don't think it is crazy. Microtransactions are huge money for companies, and getting the game out there more isn't a bad thing.

On average how many people buy microtransactions over $60 for a game? and that's just to break even for the loss of the initial sale and not counting special editions that cost more etc. I know F2P games get a lot of those but paid games may not, another thing I would never buy a microtransaction for a 3rd party game on GP those games are only there temporarily.

People I know spend tons of money on micro transactions on games that they play a lot including myself, however I don't see battlefield on gamepass on day 1 not with a big franchise like this, and they would have to radically change what they are doing atm, in saying that I kind of miss the way they did it previously, I'd rather pay for a premium pass and get 4 maps regularly but that's only because I will play the crap out of battlefield regardless.

Activision made $1.2 billion in one quarter off microtransactions.

Warzone was a lot of that and it is free to play.

Every gaming forum has people hating on microtransactions, but in the real world, they buy them up left and right. Personally, I'd never buy a skin for a first person shooter, but many do. Just jump into a game of Warzone and you'll see a Joker like skin everywhere that people paid money for.

EA made $1 billion in 3 months, mostly off games that didn't do extremely well.

I already said F2P games do very well that way, a GP game isn't F2P though, access depends on someone staying subscribed as well as the game remaining on the service, 3rd party games do leave the service after a certain amount of time. Warzone is F2P so people will be more willing to spend money on stuff like that, the game is built around monetization.

The EA games that are included in that list are Fifa which does crazy numbers with mtx especially in the UK and Europe, people buy those packs up and madden. Sports games are a bit of an outlier here though, people get hooked on that ultimate team stuff.

Any game with microtransactions is built around monetization. Warzone is done the same as the main COD MW and CW. People spend a lot on microtransactions in the paid COD games as well as Warzone. I see tons of paid skins in CW.

The subscription isn't that big a deal. They offer a discount on games as they leave, plus they always go on sale. If BF6 is good, most of us will just play it on GP until it goes on sale then grab it for $20-30.

It really isn't that complicated. Game pass has been working like this for awhile now with many games.

That's assuming MS even feels it needs BF to go along with Halo.

F2P games are built specifically with mtx in mind from the ground up it's the only way to make money with them. Yes other games have things like skins etc planned from the start as well and sadly certain sports games get all kinds of BS stuff added on that people pay for.

Halo isn't what it used to be but I'm not going down that road again but it's best days are far behind it, I'm sure it'll feature a lot of cosmetic things to buy because once MS starts to actually release 1st party games they'll need to start making that money back, right now they have to pay for 3rd party day ones because they haven't released anything AAA since 2019 (nothing for the new consoles) and it's hard to brag about how your 1st party games launch on GP when you haven't actually released one in a year and a half and only 3 since the service started two of which were Forza/Horizon sequels.

MLB launching on GP isn't a big deal, it's something but it's not a big deal, if they did launch Battlefield day 1 that would be a bigger deal but it could also cut into Halo's play time and if both games have mtx on offer it could end up hurting one or both, I doubt most people are going to be willing to spend a lot of money on both games that way, kind of defeats the purpose of GP once you start pouring money into games.

MS isn't doing this to bring value btw they are doing this because their long term strategy is more backend monetization, lure people in cheap up front and try to nickel and dime them once they are in, of course you won't be forced to spend the money but if people don't do that in big enough numbers changes will have to be made for sure.

Game Pass could easily save me a couple hundred dollars this year if the BF thing happens (and even not). Microtransactions in FPS games are cosmetic so they aren't a big deal. Some people buy lots of them, many of us don't bother. I've never understood why you need a skin in a first person game myself.

Outriders, NHL (ok I probably wouldn't have bought either), MLB, Halo, maybe BF. Probably other games later in the year.

It is comical that this bothers people so much, when it is just an option. People can go along and buy their games the old fashioned way. Most games have a limited shelf life anyway. Will I be playing Outriders in 6 months? Not likely (unless tons of DLC drops). BF is a little different because I would assume EA at least wants to get 2+ years out of it (I doubt there's a BF 7 coming in 2022 but who knows).

BF could all just be a rumor, or even worse, BF 6 could be a disaster like so many other recent EA releases.

It's only a option because forcing it(right now) is suicide and MS knows it.

They are doing whatever they can to lure the consumer in and IF (highly doubt it)enough come the rug gets pulled out from under them.
They can keep that!

Most of us don't bother because they are stupidly priced. It is like when the community complained about a collector event in Apex and one of the devs called the community cheap because only a small percentage buy skins. Had no logical answer to the reply saying if they were priced better more would buy them.

The worst thing that can happen is a stupid price increase like they did with Gold.

Besides, if you truly beleive that will happen then why not take advantage of the service while you can, You not subbing wont change anything.

It sure will.
MS won't add me to it's inflated($1 3 month sub)numbers.
It's all about the numbers.

I see Gamepass has got certain people very rattled. Gonna be a long and expensive gen for those unsuccessfully trying to play it down.
Rattled?
GP isn't even putting a dent on the gaming scene.

18 million inflated subscriptions is way less than half of Xbox owners and PC is included in those numbers lolz!

Most gamers and surely casuals(the biggest buyers) don't know what it is and never will unless it came to the machines they play on and gp in its current state isn't appealing to Sony or Nintendo platforms.
If it was it would be on them.

But those numbers are constantly rising despite you not subbing. So what are you accomplishihg other than missing out on a good value service? Nothing. The idea of "vote with your wallet" only works if you have enough support from the larger consumer base.

The numbers are far from what they need to be to sustain it.
It's bleeding badly right now.
MS will have to make changes eventually or they will kill it.

Anyway It's not for me.
To each his own enjoy.

It's already confirmed by MS that it is sustainable as it is already. Also by others.

I don't listen to trolls like jez who has lied many times.

$1 for 3 months subs won't keep happening if they want to keep it afloat them doing these types of offers alone show they are taking a hit.
If the numbers don't dramatically increase they will make changes starting with such deals and eventual increases to the service which will cause many to leave.
