I custom mapped my jump and dash to R1 and L1, makes my life so much easier.

I think I'm going to re-map dodge to R1. It'll allow me to dodge while I maintain contact with the right analog to remain as nimble as possible during combat.

There's a room in the Crimson Wastes I can't get past. It looks like there's Lava on the ground and dash is disabled. Does anyone know how to walk on Lava?

Don't do it yet. I just got my first crash. I read that apparently if you customize your controls , it may crash. I'm going to wait for the patch first to see if they fixed it. Otherwise I'm sticking with default adaptive control for now.

Does anyone know if the Crimson Key is a permanent? Like after I beat the first boss, I got it but then my game crashed. If I find the Crimson gate before I beat the first boss again, I can just go directly to the second biome? Is it worth to beat the first boss again?

Yes, after beating that bastage you will always have the key and can't fight that boss again. Unless the game didn't save before the crash.

Interesting, after the game crash, all my stuff and level reset but I found the Crimson Gate again and it looks like I can go through.

Since I'm moving Friday and will have limited play time until then I decided to just try a daily challenge. Those aren't too bad. Finished like 30th out of 300 something at the time.

You get any nice rewards for them?

The only thing I remember seeing for rewards is like 5 ether? I imagine there is a chance to find other ether as well. Outside of that or finding entirely new gear/working towards unlocking weapon power-ups though I guess nothing would transfer. Took me about 17mins (not rushing really) to complete so not sure if 5 ether is work that. I don't remember what the conversion is for ether to obolite.

In the third biome now and this game is such a breath of fresh air.

It is difficult but rewarding to progress through the game. This current run I'm on, I'm pretty happy with my augments and artifacts. This is my third run now but in reality, should be my 2nd. I've only died once and the second restart was because of a crash, ugh.

Just read the new patch intended to fix the crashes has been corrupting save files and pulled for further testing.

Geese, this is the second game in my rotation to patch a game and make it worse. In case you're wondering "Outriders" is the other game.

Most of the console versions of Cyberpunk are running worse now than they did at launch as well, at least in regards to performance. Fixed bugs, but made the game play worse.

Whoa, I've been thinking of going back to that to complete the campaign. I was having fun but stopped playing in the hopes of performance issues being sorted out. My other hope for that game was the release of the XSX patch but that's not coming for a while.

Release first, patch later. But now that patches are making things worse I say just release when its ready. And I mean ready FOR REAL not almost ready or close to ready. But ready, ready as in its been tested thoroughly.

Uh oh. Can I continue my current run? I'm in biome 3. I did see that the patch was downloaded but I haven't installed it yet. I think I'm safe to keep playing now on my current run since it's still on old patch ?

I'm not sure if it's possible but if you can delete the update lol

Not sure where I can do that. I decided to just continue the run since even if I updated, I would need to start over. I'm in the middle of biome 4 now. That biome 3 boss I managed to kill with a sliver of my health left lol. Damn that got my heart pumping.

Just hope that my PS5 downloads the newer update releasing later tonight and that overwrites the old one.

We'd all love that, I don't even know what this patch was supposed to fix other than hopefully maybe adding a save feature. There was nothing broken as far as I could tell in my time playing the game.

It fixes the keyboard cheats, trophies issues, the rare crashes and hangs, the preorder suits, incorrect healing behaviour at Helios where it recovers more than intended, custom controller mappings and I believe they enabled dead corpses feature where you could see other players dead bodies kind of like Souls.

Some (like myself) were experiencing the crashing of the game. Some say the preorder suits are the cause while others say remapping controls is the cause or a combination of the those things. I've had a handful of crashes, one during a boss fight which sucked. There's also a bug where after you exit the ship the door leading to the next area won't open making it impossible to proceed requiring a reset of your run. That also sucked since it happened to me when I had a bunch of useful artifacts.

As for the game itself its a lot of fun but also frustrating. But I'm not a fan of "rogue-like" mechanics which reset your progress as well as keeping the player vulnerable. I like to start out weak and gain in power as I progress through a game. But this game is a lot of fun which keeps me coming back. I'm so close to beating the Crimson Wastes boss, Ixion. I got so close last night but I just couldn't keep up with his third phase of attacks. But I think I can take him the next time we meet.

Agreed!

To be perfectly honest, if this wasn't a Housemarque game I'd regret having spent $70 on this. Not because I don't like it, but because the mechanics and amount of required time involved to progress in this game don't fit my schedule at all these days. I've avoided playing it multiple times because I knew I wouldn't have anywhere near the time I'd need to actually progress. I'll be lucky if I ever get out of the first or second areas unless they finally add in a mode with saving or changes to the progress system. I just don't have multiple hours to sink into this on a regular basis.

By design there's no saving in between runs which isn't good when you don't have a lot of time to play. While I think this game will have a following I don't think it'll gain mass appeal because of how unforgiving it is.

I was only able to do one run last night. That one run, with boss fight attempt took almost (90) mins to complete. After I was destroyed by the boss I wanted to try again but had to force myself not to play because it was already late.

I'm still on my 2nd run technically. I've just been taking my time clearing out enemies and getting stronger for the boss fights. I'm in middle of biome 5 now. Using pause and rest mode for the past couple days of play.

I don't have much experience with roguelike games either but it sounds like others, including the original, all had saves similar to a Dark Souls game where it just saves when you quit and then deletes it when you start it up again. I know people will mention save scumming via the Cloud but honestly a pathetic excuse. How many people would actually go through the trouble of going through those steps just to reload before a boss? Compare that to the amount of people that just can't dedicate an uninterrupted 1+ hour run. I rarely play a single game for more than that anymore, and without a save it means I can't just switch to another game and then come back. I'm locked into that game unless I want to lose all progress. Seems like a bad setup.

It's an awesome game, I love the gameplay, atmosphere, weapons, and story telling. I just don't have the amount of time available to really get anywhere. I still don't entirely trust using rest mode on PS5, so I haven't wanted to go that route yet.

Just beat it on my second run! What an amazing and intense game.

Don't think I'll be going for the platinum though, it's going to be a headache with the RNG haha.

I think rest mode is the only way to keep your progress and take your time as long as you don't die, lol.

I'm about to say "FCK this game". I mean, sh!t even Bloodborne allowed for the unlocking of a shortcut to get right back at the boss. But in this game you have to trek through 2 levels before you can reach the second boss. There's a portal at the midway point of the second area. But if I make it there with low health then its not even worth going to the boss fight. Then you have almost all the pickups inflicting some sort of malfunction to make things harder. Its like the devs put in so many things to artificially create obstacles to lengthen the game and I'm getting sick of it.
