Gaming headset recommendations

I am trying to find the Arctis 7X. It works with all platforms so seems like a stellar investment. I have Astro A50s but they arent terribly mobile so I want something for my consoles that’ll work when I get a PS5 and XSX too.

can’t find this s*** anywhere though.

Would love everyone's expertise here.

I have several very nice headphones for regular home theatre, out and about, etc etc....

What I'd love help with is picking a gaming head-set, whith mic obviously, that works really well and hopefully quite durable.

Budget is.......let's say under $200, prefarably in the $120 range though.

I need to replace this:

I got the Steelseries 7x for Xmas and liking them. They have a dongle, though, but that allows them to work on pretty much everything, Xbox, PC, Playstation, phones. These should be $150.

I will check out both of these. I do like the Arctis stuff just from the looks and reviews.

So many headsets though. Just trying to narrow it down a bit. Thanks guys!

Yea, too many options.

You could look at the Razr Kaira and the Official Xbox headset for XSX/S too. They are the cheaper headsets around $100. Heard good things about both.

Honestly I was just showing off my Xbox Live beta tester kit.

But I am actually trying to figure out what gaming headphones to buy. It really is hard to know. I'm thinking maybe there's a way to try them at Best Buy or something?

Otherwise I'm just blindly going off other peoples opinions.

Wireless would be nice, mic quality is very important, hmmmm.

We'll see....maybe something pops up on sale that I've considered and go "ok let's go with that"

I'm rocking a Sennheiser HD 599 SE. Wait for the sale that drops it from $300+ to $100-130. That's when I got it a couple years ago. Have it coupled with a FiiO DAC-E10K. Works great for PC.

Cool, but where's the microphone?

I have Shure SRH840's (through experience, these are my go to's) had AT MX50x before I got these, had Shure SRH440's before the AT's (which is why I went back to Shure, I like them)

And then I have various other headsets from AKG, Shure in ears etc.

I'm looking for a gaming headset.....with a microphone and maybe surround simulation.

Oh, I forgot about that. I use a Blue Yeti microphone separately with the headphones.

Anything EPOS/Sennheiser, just about any other "gaming" headset is junk. PC38X is a great choice, and yes it has a top of the line mic that is flip to mute.

General tips from my own experience.

get an "over the ears" headset. I used to use an "on ears" headphone, & I got pain in my ears after a while.

Get a light headset, otherwise, you may get migrine from the weight of the headset. This was the reason I went with a whire HyperX cloud 2. But these days, wireless can be almost as light, & save the ignoring cable related issues.

This depends on the clamping force of the headset, some headsets have adjustable clamping force and some naturally just don't have a lot of clamping force.
