What movies have you seen recently?

It was painful to watch. I think you have your nostalgia glasses on. I am guessing that the 2016 Ghostbusters with the chicks is probably better.

80s perfection movies include Breakfast Club, Stripes, Caddyshack, Back to the Future, Sixteen Candles, Goonies....

Dude, even Weekend at Bernies *2* is better than the OG Ghostbusters.

Bond: Eh
Weak villain. Flimsy love story. Poor supporting cast (with the exception of the new 007 and Q). Typical formula for a send-off.

Watched Shang-Chi, I liked it more than I thought it would, I was never that excited about the actor who had the lead because I've seen him in other things and he doesn't really have much personality or charisma but he did a decent job here. Some of the special effects looked weak but overall it still had a cool style to it especially places they visit in the 2nd half.

I do wonder if they'll try to find a new lead actor for the sequel, Liu has made some comments about China in the past and the government there didn't appreciate what he said so they didn't allow this movie to be seen in China. It may not have made a lot of money there even if it had been allowed to release in China, usually American made movies with Asian leads/casts are ignored in China. They already have their own film industry and they don't seem to care to see Chinese stories told through the lens of Americans even if they are Asian Americans.

There is absolutely no way they'll replace Liu over some comments about China. The absolute sh*t show that would ensue, here in the States, would be massive if they did that.

They may just not make another movie then, I mean if him being in it means there is no shot at any money coming from China that puts Disney in a tough spot. Again I don't think it would have made a ton of money there anyway but knowing that you can't even release it there will have a big impact on decisions they make for the franchise going forward, the movie so far has made around $400 million which is alright but not a huge success by Marvel standards and it had a budget of $150 million, with Hollywood accounting it could have lost money or barely broken even. It's funny you bring up the s*** show that would ensue here in the states, he isn't even from the US, he was born in China and moved to Canada when he was a little kid but they keep talking about him as if he's Asian American.

Jungle Cruise
Horrible, it's like they looked at The Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean and tried to make something similar... But everything from acting to special effects are just plain bad.
The comedic timing is off in EVERY single scene and I think I've just realized how bad of an actor Duane really is.
Also, the corky sister with knowledge that impresses the action star and her weakling of a brother.... Yes, it's basically the Mummy at the amazons but without the charm.

I only got 2 or 3 minutes in before turning it off. Based on the few minutes I saw, I agree with you 100%!

I watched 20 or 30 minutes of Red Notice. Slightly better, but not much. Don't know if I'll finish it.

Saw shang-chi, I like it, 8/11.

some of the effects were really cool, some were weird and noticeably off. I understand the bus scene but why were the Jeep’s looking fake even when they were real.

Fights were cool, the sister seems like a better scorpion, some scenes felt like a Jackie Chan movie only less fast punching and sound effects…is it me or did it lack sound effects in certain scenes/moments?

This is kinda a skippable chapter, just setup, like most first entries to the MCU. But those end credit scenes 🤔🧐🤔

It's mediocre at best. I'd rather watched Angelina Jolies Tomb Raiders on repeat than seeing this one more time. Not sure what happened here... It's actually kind of like when they tried to make a new pirates movie but in a western setting... Lone Rider I think it was called?

Finch - This was a lot better than I was expecting from an Apple movie. It is kind of like The Road meets Chappie.

Red Notice - Eh. Watchable but very forgettable.

Rocky 4: Rocky vs. Drago Director's Cut - Stallone's new director's cut of Rocky 4. it was interesting to see the new footage and alternate takes, gave the film a considerably different vibe. That said, maybe it's just nostalgia for the original version, but I didn't like it as much as I was hoping,. I found the new Dolby Vision master extremely distracting, many scenes were waaaaay too bright, and far too much grain removal made this look like a cheap new made for streaming movie. Still a fun watch and worth checking out if you're a big fan of the franchise. I forgot how many of the most memorable songs of the franchise are from 4.

Any plans to release this to purchase?

You'll probably enjoy watching it with the fam. It's not bad, it just isn't as good as the movies it borrows from.
