That was MS strategy all along. Let people who want to pay extra get first dibs (which provides incentive and makes sense) but "Experience day 1 on GamePass" though 😔
Gotta love marketing huh? Early access somehow isn't day one it's day negative 4 lol. I do hope everyone who buys it enjoys it, it's a popular series among xbox players and it's they've been waiting long enough. Flight sim was a nice tech demo but hardly much of an actual game, I'm not a racing fan but I can see why people who are would have fun with this, flight sim just looked like something you would put on to help you get to sleep.

Dunno but console sale numbers are paltry over there.
Maybe this is the beginning of change?
I don't usually quote people who I know have me on ignore because it just seems lame and attention seeking but I don't get why he keeps spreading this, console sales are not paltry in the UK and never have been, it has a much smaller population than the US so a direct comparison just makes no sense but they are one of the top spenders globally when it comes to gaming and every console maker and game publisher wants/needs to do well in the UK.

Yep. I'll is still one of the biggest markets.

The consoles come in stock, they sell out 5 minutes later.

The UK charts are pointless IMO cause they dont include digital. You also have to remember we get weekly updates not monthly like the US.

Huh?

UK sales are SUPER niche in comparison to certain other places, like NA.

Might be 3rd or 5th but it's a distant 3rd or 5th in sales market.

Xbox does horrible in comparison to Playstation over there as well.

This is why NA is so important(bigger market, more sales)and helped the 360 vs PS3.

Agreed. Though the UK has been more partial to the Xbox than other European areas.

Xbox does really well here.
Always has which is why the 360 was the best selling console out of that the PS3 and Wii.

You seem to think bigger means it's the only one that counts so thank god you aren't in charge of any companies.

Sony have been able to get more PS5s out here but both consoles sell out within 5 minutes of stock coming in. Its why the monthly figures are a simple case of "company that got the most hardware available sold the most" and the No.1 changes about every month.

Xbox hasn't done well vs Playstation over there recently.

Getting more consoles out is spin.

Over here in the not niche market both PS5 and XSX sell out in less than 5 minutes.

All markets count but console sales are niche over there.

They really aren't but keep telling yourself that.

UK is one of the most important markets for the 3 console manufacturers as well as from a publishing area.

The sale number difference between NA and the UK is MASSIVE.

Not really. You get US monthly sales while the UK is weekly so if they did it monthly you would have a much closer number.
You also need digital included which has grown and in many areas overtaken physical sales since covid.

borrowed the list below
  1. Forza Horizon 5 Preorder - With the 5th Horizon Entry in the Forza Series reaching over ONE Million players even before its out, seems like its selling EXTREMELY well in terms of Preorders on not only XBOX but PC as well and it being in the top 10 on STEAM for 2 weeks now only assures that.

  2. Age of Empires IV - Age 4 continues to sell EXTREMELY well but has to give way to its fellow XBOX Game Studios title and drop one place to 2nd from 1st from last week.

  3. ELDEN RING Preorder - This should be no surprise to the people who are familiar to PC gaming. With only just Preorders opened for it days ago, Fromsoft's next Soulsborne title manages to chart as a new entry not only in the Global Top 10 on STEAM but at No.3 and has already become the 3rd most Globally Wishlisted game just behind Battlefield 2042 and Dying Light 2.

  4. New World - While again this week NW continues to sell well but drops another place to 4th from 3rd from last week.

  5. Forza Horizon 5 Preorder - Another edition for Forza 5 manages to chart in this week's rankings and at No.5!

  6. Age of Empires IV - Just like FH5, another edition of AoE IV also manages to chart in this week's rankings at No.6!

  7. Back 4 Blood - Drops to 7th from 4th from last week.

  8. Football Manager 2022 Preorder - The Popular Football Manager Sim drops two places to 8th from 6th from last week.

  9. Valve Index VR Kit - Climbs up one place to 9th from 10th from last week.
  10. Lost Ark Platinum Founder's Pack - Lost Ark's Platinum Founder's Pack charts as a new entry in this week's rankings at last place.

Nintendo Switch was back as the UK's No.1 console last month, following the launch of its OLED model.

The OLED version accounted for 43% of every Switch console sold over the four weeks ending October 30th, according to GfK data.

Overall, 288,632 games machines were sold in the UK during the period (GfK panel data). The second best-selling console was PS5, followed by Xbox Series S and X.

Once again the best-selling accessory was the White DualSense controller for PS5, followed by the DualShock for PS4 (Black). The highest rising accessory is the Xbox Wireless Controller 'Shock Blue', which jumps from No.11 to No.5.

Sony's popular Pulse 3D Headset (White) dropped one place to No.4, but actually a new SKU arrived in the form of the Pulse 3D Headset (Midnight Black). If we add the sales of the two together, it would put it back at No.3 in terms of unit best-seller.

Moving to GSD data for the digital and physical software market, just under 2.5 million games were sold in October, which consists of 1.25 million physical games and 1.25 million digital games -- a 50/50 digital/physical split. The physical games data includes all games sold at retail, whereas the digital data includes games sold by most AAA publishers (with some exceptions, including Nintendo).

FIFA 22 was comfortably the No.1 game of the month once again, with Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 at No.2. 53% of Far Cry sales were sold via download stores, with the rest coming from physical outlets. In terms of platforms, 58% of sales were on PlayStation consoles, with the remainder on Xbox.

The next biggest new release is Back 4 Blood at No.3. The multiplayer game was primarily sold via download stores, accounting for 74% of its sales.

37% of Back 4 Blood sales were on PS5, 33% on PC, 18% on PS4, 9% on Xbox One and 4% on Xbox Series X and S. Note: The game was available to Xbox players via the Game Pass subscription platform, which is not counted here.
