Official Thread New PC Hardware Discussion. POST YOUR RIG/SETUP.

FINALLY got hold of a RTX 3080 from EVGA's queue system. Been in it since Oct 2020. And not a moment too soon. Since my wife has been working from home and freelancing, she's had more rendering projects than ever and her home workstation with a GTX 1080 was not up to the task. She'll inherit my RTX 2080TI which should make some of her projects more bearable.
Ride the lightning my friend.

My brother has this older pc, that he wants to upgrade….isn’t there a site out there in which you can list what you got and it’ll list what’s compatible with it?

Nice, I would have preferred a new card to buying the Series X but they are just so impossible to get.

I was able to get a Series X and PS5 on launch week at MSRP. This new GPU took an entire year and at EVGA's inflated MSRP  . I've never had this much trouble getting a computer part.

That's why I configured and bought a pre-build machine. Now, if you just need a part or 2, that really sucks.

I had to subscribe to Walmart + membership to grab a PS5 at MSRP. I'd say it was worth it. It beats having to pay a premium. EVGA has the right idea of having Elite membership, but anyone can join as long they have more than 100 posts or register a recently purchased GPU. They need to improve on the system and not make it so easy.

Best Buy in my area requires a GPU purchase to be picked up locally, no shipping. I think that's a start.

GPU is a nono for me.

Totally not on topic, but wish there was a little more action in here and also just want to ask a quick question:

What exactly is "nVidia game ready driver update"?

If I'm not playing a whole bunch of games on my PC (only playing one and not often) is it helpful in anyway?

Just wondering.

Game ready drivers are drivers that fix bugs and improve gaming performance on releases of most games. If you're not playing on release day or see in the notes that the driver is updating a game you play often, its not absolutely necessary to update.

This sub section of the forums is active, but obviously we don't have nearly as many PC players as we do console players on the site.

If it is a particular question make sure you tag people, or even tag me and I'll try to answer.

Yeah hey sorry about that. I was honestly just trying to get some action going in this thread again cuz I love it. And there you go some awesome pics of Nervousbreakdowns incredible game room!

The nVidia question was just a quick one that I could have googled. Sorry again!

EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080 12GB, cards around here are finally showing up to where you can walk into a store and buy one, got it for MSRP too. I have a lot of tweaking to do but I love it so far.

Everyone is saying wait for the 4000 series...lol. Might not even be able to order one for 8 months after launch.

Good decision.

It's weird to see "Add to Cart" on the EVGA website for the 3 series. A lot of people were stuck with 1080s because of the chip shortage/ mining/ scalpers. Better late than never I guess.

Not worried about the 4000 series anyway, I usually skip a gen anyway. This card exceeds my expectations and more. Oh and yesterday I also upgraded the 3900X to a 5900X. So I am gonna be good for a very long time.

Waiting waiting waiting.........

I thought I built my PC at the wrong time but glad I did. Everything is ridiculous these days with getting the newest gaming hardware, and both intel and AMD changing their chipsets every year it feels like (my PC is obsolete as far as upgrades go, I could put in more RAM but that about it)

Welcome to computer hardware. Socket changes before the end of the year and your rig is outdated in 5 months.

Oh...and halo GPUs costing as much as a full blown budget PC build.

Seriously the 3090TI is the PC worlds most useless product since the CD re-winder.

Let me quote you twice (I'm so dumb and lazy why not? I'll just leave it like that, sorry aboot that!)

LGA 1151? Felt like it went on forever, in a good way.

The Golden Years?

The reason for this setup is different, you already know that I have a gaming room. This however, is my wife's desk and she use Samsung Dex, which it is setup that way. I am using my galaxy phone with that little hub you see on the left, ethernet hardwired (1000g), remote to my Series X playing my games and it is amazing. This is such a gem MS needs to keep talking about.

Remember guys, off my phone!

Let me tell you guys. Changing my main monitor to an LG CX tv has been transformative. I can't go back to LED/LCD, at least not right now. That new Alienware QD-OLED monitor looks mighty sexy but I'm going to have to wait for this CX to die first.
