No denying it looks amazing, but for a Simcade it comes down to the gameplay for me. FM7 was a disappointment but at least the inclusion of dynamic time/weather, tire and fuel management, etc is a good start. Hoping they do better than FM7 on events a well since it seemed like the same 5 tracks over and over again. Too many times racing at fake tracks instead of real.

GT7 was a bummer so hoping for better things out of this.
One thing I hope is Top Gear tracks are gone and tracks like Virginia Raceway don't have 20 variations. Top Gear tracks suck for racing, and too many variations screwed up the track vote selections in online hoppers.

Yeah, it's time to let Top Gear go. That show is pretty much defunct now, and so should the tracks.

Simply insane.

Makes me wonder what engine is playground games using, this or the last, or a mixture of both?
playground is using the old Forzatech engine with some of the new engine stuff, like ray traced audio and upgraded photo geomotry.

A correction has been made. The game shown is PC, not Xbox.

Editor’s Note: We incorrectly stated that the Forza Motorsport demo was captured in-game on Xbox Series X. The demo was captured in-game on PC, and also tested on Xbox Series X for the same visual quality output. We have corrected* this in the article.

Two new tracks…

Fan Favorites Return Alongside New Locales

Captured in-game, we unveiled a brand-new trailer, which debuted alongside the first ever gameplay of Forza Motorsport, showcasing how Maple Valley – a beloved, fan-favorite track since the very first Motorsport game launched in 2005 – is being brought to life in stunning detail and beauty.

In addition to Maple Valley, our trailer introduced players to returning fan-favorite tracks Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway. We also revealed Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, a South African track making its Forza Motorsport debut, and the all-new Circuit Hakone set in Japan, an original, high-speed Grand Prix circuit built to showcase the technically advanced, state of the art immersion of the new Forza Motorsport.

2 new tracks already. Hopefully more to come.

Kyalami is a good track, raced it Assetto Corsa Competizione.

I’m hoping they bring back the New York track, would be spectacular to see car reflections as you raced by all the glass buildings. Imagine the photos you could take, like looking through one side of the car framing the reflection of the car off the building glass with its passenger window?

Might be too much with RT.

Maybe, maybe it could be done on pc?

Would be cool to see pics of crashes or fan videos where it dolly’s out from the reflection and into the actual crash, in slow motion.
Honestly, hard to tell what is or isn't doable. FM is the first game really built for XSX/S and where RT wasn't an after-thought slapped on last gen game.

We don't know how many cars will be on track. We have yet to see how the game handles heavy resource intensive scenarios like all cars on screen during heavy rain at night.

With it being their first to fully utilize it I believe they may like have LOD ranges, like maybe the RT is switched on when within a certain radius…the rest could be cube maps or whatever. Then with time we get patches to improve its range/efficiency or use said knowledge for the next game. Maybe for horizon 6?

Maybe. Would make sense to do that any way.

Digital Foundry said that the Showcase demo was running on PC. But that Turn 10 is confident that they can achieve the same level detail on Xbox. I sure hope so.

Chris Esaki already confirmed that the Series X matches the same visual quality as the PC version.

The replay visuals are the same as gameplay, always has been. This isn't Gran Turismo.
People on resetera put him on a pedestal and kiss his ass, if it's not PC he doesn't seem to think it deserves any praise.

Yup.

Chris Esaki from Turn 10: "Ray-tracing is in-game, on track, while playing/racing on console and Xbox looks visually the same as PC"

Internet: "Ray-tracing is not in-game, is not track, is not while playing/racing on console and doesn't look the same visually as PC"

Nah.

It has RT reflections at least in game play.

Replays have RT global illumination as well. This is from Esaki too via Forza Monthly.
