DSLRs On The Way Out

How do/why?

Well, the trend is people using modern small devices. It's easier to take pictures without understanding things like F-stops or ISO settings. Then with all the apps, you kind of have a studio in a box.

It becomes a hard surreal challenge for the old school people with studio lighting and tons of backgrounds and light meters. Arguably, the old schoolers really do have the most skill and understand the camera better in a technical sense, but customer doesn't get that; they just know they're friend or cousin is an 'enthusiast' that can do it for cheap or free.

I had a discussion with someone. I said, you can accidently took a winning picture, but you can never accidentally create a art masterpiece.

To be a pro photographer, you need to really be the best or you will be the 99% like everyone else.

The number 1 best way to get good photos is to take a truckload of pictures, change settings here & there & then pick the best ones.

I have no use anything other than my phone for last 10 years to take photos.

The only major advantage to a SLR camera is interchangable lenses & you do not getting interupted by spam call in middle of talking picture, movies.

My wife is a professional photographer and she told me the writing was on the wall years ago. So she's been making sure she stocked up on replacement parts ahead of time.

Modern phones are able to process photos to make them look nicer with dynamic range and depth of field. This has helped normies understand how those aspects make a photo look nice. However, phones don't teach normies about composition.

Anyway, I would love to upgrade to a mirrorless from my DSLR, but as I am shooting a lot less nowadays, I cannot justify the cost.
