It's funny how people bring up game length for indie games all the time, the game is $30 so 8 hours sound like a decent enough value if it's done well.

Hey man I just wanna spend 70 hours running around as a cat meowing, no one's complaining about length.

Been up almost 24 hours now hasn't it?

Having a blast, exactly what I wanted a cat game to be, now we just need a doggy game and we're set, you'd think games about pets would print money.
It wasn’t up at 11am CST yesterday. I was golfing from 11 and on. Then checked again at 8 last night and there she was.

Well that was a sad beginning 😢 Cute and scary shortly after. Game is great so far!

The full tech breakdown of BlueTwelve Studio's beautiful adventure - tested on PS5 and last-gen PS4 systems, plus PC. The advantage for Sony's next-gen system boils down to a boost to a native 4K and 60FPS. But does the end result stack up to a PC at max settings - and how well does each hold to their frame-rate targets?

TLDR;
  • PS4: 1920x1080 @30fps
  • PS4 Pro: 1920x1080 @30fps
  • PS5: 3360x1890- 3840x2160 60fps (Dynamic Resolution)
  • Best platform to play on PS5
--------
  • 7GB on PS5 vs 13GB on PS4
  • made for PS4
  • ps4 - 1080p/30, no seen DRS
  • pro - 1080p/30
  • ps5 - 1890p to 2160p / 60fps
  • ps5 uses a high grade bokeh
  • everything else is the same
    • mesh quality and draw distances are improved
  • 3060Ti - max settings at 4K is doable at 60fps, very similar to PS5
    • max shadows is higher than PS5
  • 30fps cap is stable 99% of the time
    • some loading/save hitches
    • fewer 120ms hitches
  • pro slightly minimizes hitching
  • some pre-rendered movies at 30fps
  • ps5 has practically no save hitching, or at worse, greatly minimized
  • the 120ms scene still hitches, just drops less
  • pc
    • suffers from shader compilation issues
    • infrequent but noticable
    • every new thing causes a spike
    • *note* Ars Technica spoke to devs and they said they are looking into a fix
  • ps5 is the best system to play on
  • ps4 is a really good platform to play
  • ps4 pro has practically no improvements

I haven't had any loading/save issues on my PS5. Though clipping is frequent and the occasional stutter happens. I am surprised they too haven't supported the trackpad on the DS5.

I expected the game to be cute. But I didn't expect damn near perfect scores.

It's very chill and a great wind down kind of game for you to relax and explore at your own leisure.

I'm taking my time platinum-ing it.

Awesome solid performance across the board.

The version tested was 1.02 on the PS4 consoles and 1.003.000 on PS5. Performance can vary run-to-run.

PS5 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2304x1296. PS5 uses a form of temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 3840x2160 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. Pixel counts at or near 2304x1296 were only found in parts of the opening chapter and this chapter seems to be particularly demanding.

PS4 Pro renders at a native resolution of 1920x1080.

PS4 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1280x720. PS4 uses a form of temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 1920x1080 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. PS4 seems to often render at a native resolution of 1920x1080 outside of the demanding opening chapter.

Cutscenes are letterboxed which results in a lower effective resolution during these scenes.

There are pre-rendered cutscenes that run at 30fps on all three consoles. These pre-rendered cutscenes can exhibit frame pacing issues on PS5 that weren't seen on the PS4 consoles https://bit.ly/3PBDknl Pre-rendered cutscenes seem to be rarely used in the game.

The game should have been locked 60fps, native 4K and RT on PS5. But either way it was solid.

It pretty much is.

"Pixel counts at or near 2304x1296 were only found in parts of the opening chapter".

Which is literally like 5 mins of the game 😅

Having said that, don't have higher expectations for 4K /60 fps for next gen games. It's not feasible. 1440p/60fps with increased visual fidelity the sweet spot 👌
