Isn't that the guy being sued by Bungie or someone?

Lot of departures. MS might not publicly say it but they clearly aren't happy with how IP has been handled.
Or he just wants to do something different. Nearly 12 years is a long time. But who knows, really…. He seemed happy, as did others when they mentioned their departure (via Twitter). I think only one said something whilst other stated quite. Honestly it’s hard to gauge a person through txt alone, especially without emojis

There have been high level people leaving over a period of years now, Infinite lost its creative director in 2019 and the guy who took over for him left the studio the following year, a few other higher ups left around that time as well. You can tell a lot of stuff had to have been cut from the campaign, that can't be what they envisioned it to be after all of that time.

I don't think Spencer or anyone else stepped in and did anything real until maybe Ross leaving, that studio has been an issue ever since it was first set up to take over Halo, I can give them a bit of a pass on Halo 4 since it was their first one but things just didn't get any better.

Massive update released today:

- All cores now available to everyone
- Base cadet colors now available on all cores
- New map out (Empyrean), which is a Pit remake
- Custom games browser is now live

This last bullet is huge as it is three months ahead of schedule. Any custom game type or custom map that has been published is now live to jump into via the browser, which works great so far.

The community is getting really good.
Have you tried that fiesta mode where you spawn with two random and two more right before you, on the floor. The two equipped have been fused with the characteristics of the pick icon, say you pick up a pistol but it has a rocket icon, each time you fire a rocket shots out instead, sometimes it’ll have weapons lock. But the two extra weapons are just normal randomized weapons. It’s mad fun, love it.

I played for another 3 hours yesterday. I'm like 9 hours in and idk if I'll be able to finish it or not. The story is awful and I skip every cutscene. The gunplay is fine and fun at times. I just want to be one of the less than 10% who complete the campaign (according to the achievement list).

That sounds discouraging... :(

Still haven't started yet

It's gotten better as I've gone along, but I'm just forcing myself to play it. All of the stuff between main missions is boring and distracting. I'd probably like it a lot more if it just took me to each mission instead of being open world. Plus, I don't see little switches to open gates/doors many times and I'm wandering around needlessly. Maybe there's a setting somewhere that automatically highlights objectives or something.
