What movies have you seen recently?

The Banshees of Inisherin - Good

Pretty f***ing sad movie lightened with humor. There has to be a lot that the story pulled from and need to research it further. It feels like an adaptation.

One thing I do know, Inisherin is a fictional island.

I looked it up before I went, because I like to know geography, like where is this place. Totally fictional island. I'm not gonna say more though I guess I could give more thoughts on the movie if I could be fecked to figure out spoiler tags.

Saw a bunch of movies recently

Fall (thriller) - 8/10 decent watch, my partner has acrophobia so she had sweaty hands most of the time during the movie

The Barbarian (horror/thriller) - 8.5/10 enjoyed it, little different take on the genre and keeps you guessing

Smile (horror) - 7.5/10 , creepy scenes and atmosphere it's a little twist on another film of the same genre
It Follows

Halloween Ends

FAR better than how people described it. Way better than Part 2, which I thought was quite bad, and serves to be a worthy successor to the first of this trilogy. Superbly written and directed.

We watched it recently. I thought it was dumb as hell and the amount of time Myers is in the film was laughable. I like the first and thought the kills in two was decent, but this final film did nothing for me.

Confess, Fletch - Average

This was a tough one for me. Having been a Fletch fan since day one and having seen Fletch at least 50 times, I went into this skeptical. They were able to carry a bit of the 80s vibe to the movie for the humor. If you have seen the original Fletch enough times, you will notice a lot of throwbacks to the OG.

If you remember in the OG Fletch when he was in the Sargent's office and asked the Sargent if he liked Tommy Lasorta, and Fletch said he hates Tommy Lasorta and punches the frame and glass of a picture of Tommy Lasorta, this new movie, Fletch looks at a picture on the wall in the Sargent's office and adjusts the picture (not a picture of Tommy Lasorta) and purposely makes it unleveled

There are a lot of those little things you will see in the movie. The type of humor, all of the under his breath comments, his clothing, etc.

I think the new Fletch did "pretty good", but I just couldn't give the entire movie a good, I am sad to say. But it was fun to see as an OG Fletch fan and get a throwback feel.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it. I love original Fletch and seeing the trailer kind of made me cringe a little. I'll eventually give it a try.

I watched it free, so it wasn't of concern. It's essentially a 2022 version. Dare I say a bit more woke? Not sure. But you won't hear lines like when Fletch enters Alan Stanwyk's home and responds to the hispanic housekeeper's greeting of Buenos dias by saying Buenos Dias ... Pup 'n' Taco! He mocks a lot of Spanish people in the OG Fletch, but that ain't happening in this one.

I hear it’s a lot of fun and could become a Christmas rotation movie.
It should. They did a great job keeping the feel of the original, making a nice story, not overwriting it, and nice, family friendly humor that adults will like as well as kids. Jail scene made me laugh pretty hard.

Addams Family (1991)
Still an amazing adaption and after watching the first episode of "Wednesday" I really miss Raul Julia's version of Gomez... honestly, the casting and acting (except for maybe Wednesday and Pugsley) in the new series is awful.

Beast 2022 - A bunch of moronic people doing moronic things for 90 minutes with zero explanation to why this creature is acting the way it is. Could they have made the daughters any more annoying? Doubt it.

Gomez is true to the original comic.
