Neon Giant is a new Swedish developer comprised of AAA-game veterans. The Ascent is using the Unreal Engine.

ABOUT THIS GAME

The Ascent is a solo and co-op action RPG, set on Veles, a packed cyberpunk world.

Welcome to The Ascent Group arcology, a self-contained corporate-run metropolis, stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy.

You play as a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your district. One day, whilst sent on a routine assignment to make use of your skills with a cyberdeck, you are suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events. The Ascent Group, the largest mega corporation on the planet, shuts down for unknown reasons, causing the automated security systems to go haywire.

The survival of your district is threatened: rival corporations are trying to force appropriation and crime syndicates are looking to boost their black-market augmentation trade. You must take up arms to stop them from seizing control and embark on a new mission to find out what started it all.

You belong to the corporation. Can you survive without it?

My favorite game of the show. Art, gameplay, graphics and music were all good. Best visuals on an 8 way shooter I've seen. Ever since Smash TV (and maybe Robotron before it), I've been a fan of the 8 way shooter.

The Ascent looks really good.
I'm excited for this one. Hopefully the dev knocks it out of the park.
Game looks like some old school fun.

The more I watch this the more I like what I see. Reminds me of the games I used to play 20 to 30 years ago.

Even people not interested in this game should check this video out. It's an 11 person team. Listen to them talk about possibilities next gen vs previous gens. For small teams to make games with decent visuals a decade ago, it was impossible. This is the first gen where AAA game design, (content size being equal), where cost and manpower needed will actually come down.

Absolutely love what I'm seeing with the gameplay. Yes it looks old school but with that new school polish.
