how the hell do I get to the room that won't open at the very beginning after talking to that fat slob on the floor?

Click Authorize on the thing near the door. You want to go left of the guy on floor. Both should be open.

Still loving the game overall, but my biggest gripe are those side missions you can't complete until you progress further in the main quest. I think I tried 3-4 of them and wound up blocked. That was frustrating...especially because many of the side missions, the recommended level is much lower than the current main story.

that’s annoying as f***. It really should tell you that the mission is locked pending progress. This game needs a lot of quality of life improvements

Okay, so I am talking about the door at the north from the first quest?
I think we’re talking about the same thing. They guy you talk to is in a room with three exits, the one you entered through, one in the upper left, and one in the upper right. You need to go through the upper left and you will come to an access point that you must get near the terminal and hold down Y to hack.

I will try that to see if that works

the Cyberdeck. You'll find upgrades lying around or by story progression.

Am I the only one who has played 8-10 hours of this game but couldn't tell someone what the story is about if asked? lol

Played this more last night I think I was around lvl 8 when I called it a night. I’m starting to get into this game now once I got the hang of combat, taking cover, and shooting. The game world is awesome. My gripe is the map and minimap. Most of the time I’m not sure where I’m at or where I’m going, glad the red line shows you where to go. Also the story leaves me not caring as I play on, I just like the gameplay, RPG elements, and love the game world.

It hit me last night while playing… this is probably the closest game we’ll ever get to the old original Shadowrun game.

Yeah the map is awful,I thought Control's map sucked but this is worst.

Has the PC version been fixed yet?

August 4th, Patch Notes

The patch released for The Ascent on August 4th, has made some significant changes to the UI as well as adding a Difficulty settings slider to Settings. This patch has been only available to Xbox players, not present in the Steam version of the game.

The file size varies from 2.5 GB to 5.7 GB depending on the platform the game is installed on.

The map and mini map is poorly made and confusing as f***. A 2D map would suffice. This game being the closest to the original Shadowrun is so spot on. Such an under-rated game for its time.

where are the patch notes? The link on the ascent website doesn’t have anything.

Played a bit more of this game yesterday, though it was single player. Co-Op seriously makes this game 100x better. kind of boring by yourself tbh. I see why the reviewers were mixed on reception lol

Played more last night. I think I’m just going to play through main quest then uninstall. While I am having fun, I’ve giving up on side quests I get so confused on where I’m at and where I should go a lot because of the s*** map. Just going to stay on a straight line and do the main game.

Don't have too much of a problem with the map, but I can see being annoyed by it. I do wish you could track more than one quest lol. Played WoW for like two months and they had that DOWN

Also annoying anytime I try to explore off the main quest path I run into higher level mobs that one shot me.

I tried to do the side quests that were in line with the main quest level. A few times I'd wandered to explore and had some bigger baddies, but if you are lucky you can find higher armor and guns too. Again the only downside is some side quests can't be completed without the main quest being done first. You don't know this until you are blocked. There's a level 2 side quest I couldn't finish until well in my teens.

Aside from some glitchy quests and the issue above, I'm loving the game play.

I'm close to end.
