I don't think people really get yet how massive the 3090 is...SFF builds need NOT apply.

I will have to wait. Realized my CPU is too old and will probably cause bottlenecking. It'll be time for a new build.

After watching that Demon's Souls gameplay I think I changed my mind about 1080p 144hz being better. Looks like AMD's ray tracing solution is going to be just fine.

What CPU do you have?

Core i5-4690k

Resolution would continue to sit at 1080p.

No need to buy these cards if 1080p gaming.

I would say that I'd be slowly moving in that direction, but I get what you mean.

I rather not get a mid tier card, because I think I'd be wasting money.
With that said, what would you or someone else recommend for the CPU I have?
The GTX 970 hasn't let me down. Don't think it's worth upgrading GPU with my current build.

Ultimately, I plan on building a new PC next year. That's why I held of on the hype of the RTX. For now, just going to plunk down some cash on the Series X.

BTW, thanks!

Series X is my PC upgrade until I do a new build as well 🤫
I'm waiting to see what big Navi looks like, but given that I have a 4k/60 Dell monitor with s***ty HDR, I'm probably going to stick with the 5700XT for the near term. If I ever talk myself into a proper monitor upgrade, then a real high end card may make sense, or if the prices fall enough that a real upgrade would be in the 299-399 range I might not pass that up, but as long as Crusader Kings 3 had my playing time by the balls and I can get cyberpunk on XSX I think I'm good.

I am on 970 GTX as well. What an amazing card. Works like a charm for 5 years. Never let me down like Ricky Astley, no major issues. I think it still has 1-2 years of life left, until more games done RTX and next gen.

I do wish to get a card to sign off 2020 on a high. I have some money as I did not make any travel this year.
I am pondering 3070, but if 3000 series (3070 already more powerful than next-gen consoles) last me at least 75% as long as my 970 GTX, the 200€ premium of 3080 seems reasonable. I wouldn't mind 3090 if not for the over the top price.

I do need a 4K monitor by mid next year to test my game at 4K mostly for the UI stuff. Maybe I will need an RTX card to test Raytracing.

Good luck to those trying for the 3090 tomorrow. Hopefully the higher prices scare away the bots and scalpers this time around.

You team MS now that they are buying up all those studios? It does seem like a good deal for 4k gaming, but I just cannot go back to 30fps after playing on a freesync monitor all these years. Choppy gameplay really does pull me out of the game.

Well I was hoping that you would have better luck than I had for the 3080. I guess we'll sit on our money until December or so.
