Straight out of Compton was a better movie than any of those nominated for Best Picture.

Jurors, if you are going to nominate pos like The Big Short and complete no-namer Oscar bait like Brooklyn, why not nominate The Walk? Ugh. Aside from being a great movie, it is by far one of the best movie theater experience I have ever had, so sad to see it completely forgotten.

Adding to the above post.....

But, ya know, Boyz N the Hood was better than Bugsy and The Prince of Tides, by a landslide, but wasn't nominated. I wonder why..... Let's not forgot the best documentary of all time, Hoop Dreams, didn't get a nomination for best doc. Again, I wonder why.....

Well whatever, Academy has been a big pile of BS for me since The Artist won the best picture. I mean, seriously. Who even remember that movie nowadays.

Finally got a chance to watch The Revenant. It was a masterpiece. I really would love to see behind the scenes / the making of footage of this one.

If Leo doesn't win this year it proves without a shadow of doubt someone has it in for him.

I gotta say, people believe Stallone's nomination is a bit of a honorary thing, but I'm of the mind that he gave a worthy performance. He showcased quite a range of emotion in the film, and really sold the severity of his cancer, from denying treatment to going through with it. The man stepped his game up for Creed and it showed.

I am probably not the best to judge him, since I've never seen a Rocky film, but this was a shining moment of acting, compared to his past catalogue.

I have no idea if it was talent, direction, or luck, but Brava!

I didn't enjoy the movie though.

I'd love it if the scope for the academy's appreciation included movies that weren't called "Oscar Bait" and didn't make you want to cut yourself.

If anything can be learnt from Stallone's performance, its that STEVEN SEGAL HAS A CHANCE BITCHES!

Will post my picks in the morning. I thought Starwars might have gotten a few more noms. Cate Blanchette gave two of the years stand out performances in my mind. Pity you can only be nominated once per category.

I dont think Straight out of Compton was BP quality. Nor do I think The Martian or Mad Max is.

Leonardo DiCaprio finally did win an Oscar.

Wow, Mad Max won more awards than I was wrong about! Revenant and Ex Machina winning the only other technical awards. Star Wars got completely shut out, which was a complete surprise to me since this is the most nominations a Star Wars movie has received in years. I'll also say Spotlight winning was a bit of a upset victory (lots of people on Reddit though it was the leading candidate) too! While I was rooting for Mad Max, I was also thinking that Revenant was the other leading choice. Mark Rylance winning Best Supporting Actor was the biggest shocker though since he was truly up against some awesome performances.
