I try to stay optimistic for 2022 and 24, but I see the Democrats getting wrecked. Honestly, Trump running not only doesn't scare me, but I think that's their only chance. Trump is going to keep his campaign open for all those donations, but will just expect the next one to "kiss the ring". You'll have a much more polished and toned down Trump version like Desantis. They'll raise the pitch on the racial stuff just enough to make it more palatable (CRT is a perfect example of a dog whistle).

What the Democrats need to do is talk economy, economy, economy. Stop attacking Trumpism, and start attacking the age old GOP economic nonsense like tax cuts for the rich. Democrats need to be their own biggest cheerleaders, praising themselves for any positive economic numbers. When people are unhappy economically, they blame the current administration. They all turned on W Bush once the economy went to hell.
The issue with praising most of those numbers is most poor and middle class people don't see any improvement from them, most of the gains still go to the top regardless of who's in power. Whenever Biden talks about it he talks about the stock market, yeah that may help someone's retirement account but if they are 20-30 years away from that why would they put a lot of thought into that when they are paying a lot more to fill their tank or put food on the table now?

Some of this stuff is corporate greed and that needs to be called out and they need to name names and give real numbers when doing it but when you keep telling people "look how great this is" and all they see is help wanted signs in windows for low paying jobs and nobody willing to take them, they see signs at stores saying exact change or debit card only because for some reason there has been a coin shortage going on for well over a year, they hear ports are backed up in CA and have been for quite a while so things they want to buy are in short supply or unavailable it all adds up to an unhappy electorate.

Most of this was caused by the previous administration but Biden ran on being the guy who was going to fix everything and bring the country together and until he does something that people can actually see or feel positively impact their lives directly in some way claims of how "good" the economy is are going to fall on mostly deaf ears. Hopefully these things are turned around within the next couple of months or Dems are going to lose the house and senate in a way that may end up taking several election cycles and a lot of help to take back.

That's kind of the chicken and the egg. I would say, vote Democrats 60+ seats in the senate, then see what they can do. Republicans got nothing done in Trump's 4 years either. They passed the tax cuts for the rich and nothing else. It isn't like they hammer through legislation. Their health care plan was so bad, they had to trash it themselves as their own people read it and hated it.

People need to take a leap of faith with the Democrats. I know it is hard to get energized by them, but them getting a little accomplished is a million times better than the right.

The stuff with stores has been greatly exaggerated. My mom and my wife were chatting about how hard it was going to be to find a turkey and how expensive. Low and behold, they both found one easily at around the same price. Inflation and shortages are a thing, but they aren't nearly as bad as the scare tactics make it out to be. My wife had to go to 2 stores to find one (she shops on the weekend afternoon which is the worst time to go). With the exception of things with computer chips, the shortages are not that bad. Sometimes you have to go to an extra store to find stuff.

Does anybody want it to get better for mel gibson?
His issues started before "cancel culture" was really a thing, he was never "cancelled" but it did take quite a while before his career started to rebound, he had to figure out a way to get around being an obvious anti-Semite in Hollywood.
