Netflix have made the Richard Morgan book, Altered Carbon, into a new series. And it looks friggin sweet.

If you haven’t read the book I’d probably hold off on it if you enjoy the show because it looks like they remained true to the story and you really don’t want that ending ruined.

Cool trailer but that Trent Reznor sucks. All his rock songs of the last 15 years sound exactly the same.

I'm really geeked for this. I read all 3 of the books and they are great.

Yeah they really are great. He's said he doesn't intend to write any more Kovacs stories but the amount of requests he gets to do a new one I hope he'll change his mind eventually. His other book, Market Forces, also picked up for a movie option.

Looks like something I should enjoy.

The book is exceptional. It has some very rough moments which I'm wasn't sure would make it into the show but I think I saw hints of them in that trailer.

There are two other ads for it on Netflix worth a watch. One shows Bancroft (the guy who gets murdered and the hires Kovacs to find out who killed him) and the other is a small feature explaining a bit about the universe.

Supposedly they are going to be very true to the books (we'll see) except for one scene (which I'm ok with)

The Kovacs scene where he's tortured by having his body simulated as a woman and having rather nasty things done isn't going to be in.

Aw. They left that out? That’s what causes him to go practically off the rails when he goes for some payback. I know it’s a risky scene but it showed you in no uncertain terms the brutality of his enemies and what he capable of once he gets loose.

Saw this during a football game this weekend (I think). Looks really good. Wouldn't mind reading the books but also need to get Netflix sometime to catch up on a lot of shows.

I am a big fan of Joel Kinnaman though. Hmm do I want to watch first or read first? Kind of the conundrum I've had with shows like The Expanse. I love the visuals so much I went with watching the show first on that.

Honestly I’d probably watch the show. I’ve been reading a lot of things about it what would be spoilers if I hadn’t read the book, but it’s leading me to the conclusion that they followed the story closely. So I’d say sit back and enjoy the ride. Pick up the book after and following that, get the other two Kovacs books he wrote.

Probably a good idea anyways. I've already got a pretty decent backlog of books to catch up on.

The books are really amazing. Morgan is one of my favorite authors. In addition to the 3 books on this, his fantasy series A Land Fit for Heroes is amazing too.

Just finished market forces and Blackman. I’ll get around to his fantasy stuff next.

Two episodes in and it is absolutely fantastic. They've done a great job of converting it into a show.

Have watched the first 2 episodes so far. Loving every minute of it. Never read the book.
