Anthem

All you excited people moght want to slow your roll a bit. This game seemingly has no end game. From everything known the end game consists of free roam, legendary contracts, and 3 strongolds...and that is it.

That sounds very underwhelming for a game like this.

They have also mentioned something called Cataclysms which I think are seasonal events similar to what Fortnite does and Shaper Storms which I haven't seen a lot of information about yet. Is that a Raid type event? I'm not sure.

Don't forget The Division had a rather anemic end game as well. We had daily missions and the thrill of grinding the ohh so fun (not to me) Dark Zone and that was pretty much it. Incursions, The Under Ground, grinding for new gear sets, world tiers additions took a while to be added .

The point is these types of games rarely stay the same and evolve pretty radically after launch. It asks gamers to be patient which is no easy task for us who want things now. But that's how it goes.

Thhat isn't how it should go, though. The whole " wait and will be fixed" mantra is dumb, especially for these type of games. These games should have a proper end game day 1, one meaty enough to last till the next content drop. This game appears to be failing that despite having plenty to learn from.

The games you mentioned are example of how not to make a game like this. Not an example of how we should be patient for 6+ months to get something resembling a complete product.

Yeah. Exactly. With Division they were constantly playing catch up to make the end game sustainable. With Division 2 they built the end game first, so on paper at least, they seemed to have learned that lesson. With this game, if 3 strongholds and free roam is all to have to offer on launch, then that’s a very poor start.

I agree with you but it’s not happening:(

With Anthem, yeah. The Division 2 is sounding promising in this regard, though.
Possible. But I have bought everyone of these games on console to date that have the same features, and none of them have released complete. If Division 2 does, that will be my first experience seeing it happen. I hope that is true, as I am getting the game day one either way. I love Division 1, even though I am stuck in it.

Games like this are always going to improve over time. Gamers need to decide if they want to get in on the ground floor and watch the game as it evolves, or wait 6 months and see where the game is at that time. Gamers need to decide which side of things they want to be on. There's nothing wrong with either.

Not sure how you get stuck in Div 1.

Well, they said they built dndgame rirst. If they are telling truth then it should have the endgame to go with 40 hour campaign. If they are pullin a Bungie and are lying their ass off then it will be the last Ubisoft game I'll ever buy.

Nope. Improving and evolving over time isn't an excuse for an incomplete game.

And the former is wrong. This isn't game preview, it is a fully priced incomplete product. Buying it knowing that is contributing to the s***show.

Because I keep dying trying to progress :(

You can get as angry as you want, it isn't going to change reality. We don't even develop business software fully "finished" anymore. Requirements and needs change much faster than development processes can keep up with. You prioritize the most important first and get something working out the door. This isn't just gaming. This is how software development works. Sorry, but we aren't going back to the way things were.

I hope Div2 is better, but expecting it to be great on day 1 is a huge risk. It looks like it will be a lot more polished than other games, but I bet if anything they do the old "slow loot drip" at the start to keep people from blowing through the content.

Instead of getting angry, don't buy. I'm definitely not buying these kinds of games at launch anymore for exactly the reason you state.

Do you really think game devs are clueless as to how to make a loot/grind game still? It isn't hard. Fun early game and a meaningful end game. The publishers push them to ship, which is why everything feels half baked. It feels half baked because it absolutely is.

So this does still have a SP?
I guess technically it's a SP game that can be played co-op? The only time you can't really go private is in freeplay I think, which is just open roam with random world events. I think the strongholds have to be public as well, but the main story can be played privately.

So after changing my display from full screen to borderless, my random drops to 30fps have been fixed. Not sure if I lose out on any performance for not being full screen, but game runs a lot better.

I enjoyed this demo, I hope they have a lot of sidequests/story quest like the Mathias one from the demo...might grab this.

So what’s the overall impression from those who played both Demos.? I’m considering picking it up.

I see, my stuff gets deleted but this dumb s*** remains.

Typical.

I had a really bad time trying to play the demo yesterday. I tried early in the morning and enemies would just disappear right as I was shooting them. Then I seen on the web that the Shaper Storm world event was going on and tried to take part in that but couldn't log in. I guess the servers were being hammered during that time. The demo was a lot of fun when it works but I'm worried about the game's stability once it launches.

Ice is king in this game. The Storm build I had either destroyed everything or froze it until we could take them down. And I finally figured out how to deal with those enemies sporting that pesky blue shield. Weapons are pointless so I used either Ice or Lightning on them and the shield pops pretty quickly. For the enemies with a Yellow health bar just use Fire or Acid. This reminds me of Destiny where you had to use the right elemental damage to quickly bring down shields.

Well, I think the game has potential. But I spent more time playing this weekend, and I found that free play was kinda boring. I also found that one tiny little mission for the "triplets" wasn't enough to determine the value of this game, single player wise. I know I shouldn't compare it to Destiny, but I will. I find that having 4 people in a map versus what we see in Destiny, everything seems a little sparse right.

So I have chosen to cancel my pre-order with XBL and wait and see with this one. Gonna see how much it evolves and adds content and missions, and I want to see how the single player is from reviews and my peers here.

I am guessing you never played Mass Effect.
