I did it. I cut the cord so to speak. I cancelled cable and am going modem only. I'll go with Hulu with live TV. The only two channels missing for me are Comedy Central and AMC. I can use my mom's login info and get those on demand when Better Call Saul is back on AMC and to watch Trevor Noah, South Park, and Tosh.0. That's all I watch on those channels now.

I cut back to basic cable and Internet, basic cable was like another $7 on top of internet, bout a year ago now. Wife wasn't thrilled but has has learned to live with it, Roku in the bedroom. Went from $180 to $90 or so with taxes and all that s*** included.

If you can handle waiting a day, I know South Park and TDS are on next day Hulu. Curious what your impressions of Hulu Live are, as I've been thinking of cutting the cord now that my two year FiOS is up.

It's a little cumbersome to navigate with the Apple TV remote, but the quality is better than cable TV. I'll have to get used to not going to channel 110 and instead go to ESPN, etc.

No Comedy Central shows are on Hulu.

Well, South Park is. I could have sworn that I used to watch all my TDS on here, but after a quick Google search they removed it back in early 2017. Just got Hulu back after a long hiatus, so that makes sense.

I've been using Hulu Live for maybe half a year now? I've also tried Playstation Vue and DirecTV Now for about that long. Hulu is definitely my favorite although it still has some hitches. The fact that it includes the streaming library and is still only $40 is great. Mileage will vary on channel lineup as far as locals, but outside of sports I don't watch local channels and in my case I'm covered on everything but NBC.

I'm using the app on a Fire TV and it works although could use some improvements. I wish it had a favorites listing for the channels and last channel/recall. Right now it just has a previous channels view limited to like 10 or so. It does separate some into News, Sports, Movies, and Kids, but would be great to a favorites option so I can get rid of 80% of channels to make it easier to scroll.

Not sure if they have any promos, but definitely worth checking out especially since you can just cancel online without dealing with a person.

Sling has Comedy Central IIRC and it has AMC, so my wife re-ups when The Walking Dead is out.

So far Hulu has been awesome. The only downside I've experienced, there are some shows that you DVR where you can't skip commercials.

Ok, two months in, and I don't miss cable. One thing that is annoying is the ability to not skip commercials on DVR'd recordings. It sucks when watching sports on delay. I was thinking of going back to cable, because that is a serious turn off, but I looked at mu account on Hulu and you have to upgrade to the 200 hour DVR to be able to fast forward through commercials. Yes, a price gouge, but it $70 a month for all the channels I need, 200 hours of DVR, no cable boxes to "rent." I'm still saving around $55 a month.

If you time the fast forward I think you can skip the commercials, but if you're too late then you're stuck watching. At least that's what it was like on the Fire TV app.

Funny thing is we may now be going back. Right now we have comcast for Internet and very basic tv (basically, the backup for the fact that the antenna I have for the Xbox doesn't really work well where our TV is located), plus Hulu, sling, netflix and prime. AT&T just came by and they've apparently finally laid fiber in the neighborhood, and I am so the f*** over having internet where neighborhood usage will regularly slow us down. But the UVerse TV plans suck, while I can get a pretty decent low-end package from Comcast that pretty much would replace Sling and Hulu for us, plus having local channels in HD again finally. So I'm going to be splicing the cord, I guess, with the digital package from comcast, plus the internet from AT&T, and then still having netflix and prime, and then of course at some point Disney+.

I have been using a service called Philo for about a year now, maybe more. Love it. Its only $20 a month. It has all the channels we watch. A downside for some may be that if the channel has sports programming, its not available on Philo. That's how they keep the price down.
If you have a fire TV and Alexa, you can tell Alexa to fast forward 3 minutes(or however long) to skip commercials.Works with most apps on the fire tv.

BTW, I also have Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, Showtime and HBO. All in, its about $140 a month including FIOS 100/100 internet.

We dropped Direct TV years ago and went to streaming stuff only. Right now I pay 5.99 a month for Hulu / Spotify combo (they had a student promotion). Netflix is 12.99 now or whatever. Apart from that, I use some apps on the roku/firesticks that let me watch some free movies. Stuff like Pluto and crackle. Oh and I get Amazon Prime student for 49.99 a year which gives me the Prime library too. We were paying over 120 a month for satellite and not watching it hardly at all.

I have considered getting Sling or one of the other ala carte options, but haven't made the leap yet.

I've been on YouTube TV for 6 months now and I don't have any complaints.

Still using Hulu Live. Haven't looked at any other services lately to see how they stack up in terms of pricing and channels. Hard to beat Hulu's deal though with the included streaming library. Outside of that I just have Amazon Prime, which I realize I haven't even used in terms of shows/movies, ESPN+, and HBO.

Naw, I enjoy the freedom of subscribing to services when I want and canceling them at my leisure. I know everyone complains about their being too many services, but I love the options.

Yep. When I had a cable TV sub it was good service and bundled with Internet the price was pretty good. I haven't checked other Live streaming services lately and after Hulu raised their rates a bit, I think I'm closing in on what I paid for the cable bundle. But the biggest plus to going with other services is the ability to add/remove in a few seconds without dealing with a person, going through their questionnaires and what not. If I could manage my cable TV sub completely online like I do with Hulu, I'd probably just stick with it and add/remove when needed.

Bingo. Plus, I find many of the services range from $5 to $15, so it's not all some set price. Plus, you get free stuff like Pluto TV, TUVI, Crackle, and even Youtube. Hell, I'll probably subscribe to youtube red again once GoT is done so I can see the new season of Cobra Kai.

Well, we upgraded our comcast TV subscription for three or four days and now realized with as good as the fiber is, we can get everything we want TV wise by combining Hulu with live TV and Philo (except NFL and NHL networks, which I'll miss a little but aren't deal breakers). So we have a 4k Fire stick arriving today and assuming those two services seem like they'll work, I'll be cutting comcast off entirely tomorrow. :)

Cutting the cord again when I move in with the lady in June. Looking forward to it, I barely ever watch live TV and definitely don't use OnDemand either. Only really use it for sports and I can find ways to get those live.

Only time I miss cable is sports. I have Netflix, Prime, and Hulu plus HBO Now till Game of Thrones is done. I have more content I want to watch than time to watch it. Will be getting Disney+ when that launches.

What’s the easiest way to watch sports without cable/satellite?

Hulu Live TV has quite a few sports channels. https://www.hulu.com/live-sports

Yep with Hulu I get all the ESPNs including extras on college gamedays, Comcast Sports for Chicago, Fox Sports North and Midwest, FS1 and 2, and NBCSN. Those regionals obviously depends on where you are. Then another $50 a year for ESPN+ and pretty much everything is covered. I don't think they have any of the MLB/NHL Networks so if you want that you might have to look into PS Vue. I know that had NBA TV at least.

I went to cancel about 6 months ago and Verizon dropped their price significantly. I did a lot of price matching.

The one thing that hurts us in baseball in MD. MASN has a lock on Orioles and Nationals. You can't do MLB unless you buy into another thing to proxy it.

We lean towards Sling TV. It was fine, but the UI isn't that great.

I have another year or so and I'll check again how the other companies are evolving. If it was me, I'd cancel. My wife would be OK, but I know she'd gripe about all the different apps needed to watch xy and z.

Is the Hulu Live TV included with my premium subscription? If so I haven’t noticed sports on it, or is it extra?
If you already have Hulu I think you just change from regular to Live TV package. They have both ads and no ads for the streaming library. I think Disney has a majority stake in Hulu now that they own Fox so I'm hoping at some point there is a super bundle of Hulu Live/streaming library, ESPN+, and Disney+.
