I've been curious about it. Has anyone bought one? Part of it is me just wanting a console for playing emulators on my TV, among other offerings. It's pretty cheap to buy and I get 10% right off the bat at Target. Wanted to see some of UGF's overall opinion on it.

...Well, I guess there's your answer.

Most of the reviews I read weren't too kind. Mostly to the effect of it having potential, but also a long way to go. Honestly, I think it's DOA as a gaming device. But hey, at least it got further than the Phantom ever did.

I'd say skip it and take a look at these.

Or just google android stick. Pair it up with a bluetooth controller and you're set. I actually use my kindle fire through hdmi (or not if I wanna go portable) with a gamestop bluetooth controller for snes or inferior emulation. Works like a charm. N64 is mostly unplayable but the quad core sticks should handle it.

Whenever it was discussed at TXB, it got only negative responses, so I wouldn't be surprised if no one here picked it up.

I see, might skip it. Honestly, the only reason I ever wanted it was to get some of the nifty phone games I couldn't play. Like the Ravensword RPG or something of that nature. I think I'd still pick it up if I ever saw it reduced around the $50 area. Might go to blackfriday at my local target and see if they get offered around that price.

I, too, have thought about getting Ouya as well. Mostly because I wanted to get it for my son who is only 5 years old and just want to play something for fun. For now, I think Wii is good enough for him.

I want one but just want it for the emulators and to use it as a XBMC media player.

If the answer is yes, I have a key for you.

Here's how to redeem it:
• Go to the Home Screen on your OUYA
• Select MANAGE -> ACCOUNT -> PAYMENTS
• Choose "Redeem Code" and enter your code
• Once the code is successfully submitted, launch the game and enjoy!

Enjoy!

Damn, I was looking a while for the name of the game. Thanks.

No I do not have a Ouya though, whatever that is.

Yeah...I don't know. I knew I was never going to ever use it. Figure there might be one soul.

I've always thought about getting Ouya. Not sure if worth the system or not? Not many people talk about it.

I think it's what they say in Fargo when agreeing to or acknowledging something.

CEO Julie Uhrman talks about the future of Ouya and new exclusive game
http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/14/5808536/ouya-ceo-julie-uhrman-thrilled

At this year’s E3 Julie Uhrman said that her team at Ouya is working to create a family-like atmosphere, one that supports new developers and helps get their games onto “the best screen in our lives — the television.”
Uhrman’s staff of 28 is still largely focused on engineering and technology, but the second largest team, headed by Kellee Santiago formerly of Thatgamecompany, is dedicated to developer support.

Her developer relations team actually offers technical assistance in 12 third-party game making technologies, and regularly gives personal attention to those developing for the Ouya platform. That level of attention has been the secret to building up a stable of 825 games and a community of 36,000 developers. 54 percent of them live outside the United States.

Ouya brought along to E3 Miguel Oliveira, a recent graduate of USC’s interactive media program. Kellee Santiago plucked him and his senior thesis, a game named Thralled, right out of school and set him up with enough money to support his small company. That relationship, tied to a timed exclusivity on the Ouya console, is what is allowing him to make the game he’s always dreamed of making

This thing is still alive? I called it wrong. I thought this thing would already be DOA. Looks like it's still on a lifeline.

Ouya now selling 12-month pass to 800 games for $59.99
http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/30/5858508/ouya-all-access-pass

Ouya launched a limited deal today, the All-Access Pass, which gives customers 12 months' worth of access to almost all games on the platform for $59.99.
According to its listing on the Ouya Shop, the All-Access Pass covers more than 800 Ouya games and represents a value over $2,000. The pass is not an annual subscription — the $59.99 price is a nonrefundable one-time payment. Once a customer buys it and redeems the code, relevant content in the Shop will show up at the price of $0.00.
Ouya notes that the offer applies only to purchases under $30 of items such as full-game unlocks and add-on content; the pass does not cover "in-game purchases that enhance gameplay" or content that can be bought more than once, such as power-ups or extra lives. And Ouya reserves the right to disqualify any game or customer that the company feels "is abusing the system during the duration of this program."
In addition, the Ouya Shop page for the All-Access Pass refers to it as being available for a limited time and in a limited quantity. In an email to Ouya developers that was obtained by Gamasutra, Ouya called the All-Access Pass a "new program we're about to test" and said the offer's availability would be a "very limited test." The company also told developers that there will be "no change" to the way they get paid; if an All-Access customer "buys" a free game, the developer will still receive its standard revenue from Ouya — 70 percent of the game's full cost.
We've reached out to Ouya for more details on the All-Access Pass, and will update this article with any information we receive. For more on the Android-based micro-console, check out our interview with Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman from E3 2014.
Update: Reached for comment, an Ouya representative sent the following statement to Polygon: "Ouya All-Access is a pilot subscription program we're offering to new and existing Ouya users for a limited time only. For the price of one console game, players receive access to the entire Ouya catalog of more than 800 titles, for a full year. It's just one of many things we're exploring to give players the best value, and developers the best visibility. Results of this test will dictate if/how we proceed with an official subscription program."

Give Ouya credit. It's still trying to be relevant. By this time, I thought it would dead already.

They're fighting an uphill battle for sure. I don't see the appeal of the system but they are not going down without a fight.

Apparently it's sold out. Should've read the whole thing as I didn't realize this was a limited number type of deal. So far so good for them though.
