Anybody here into Retro Gaming? No emulators, just old school consoles...

So I was here in the OTL the other day, and someone had mentioned the Atari 5200. I responded with pics of my own 5200. However, it was in a different thread in the OTL and I got the idea that I should create a thread about retro gaming, so here it is.

Here are some pics of my Atar 5200. Everythings works, and it plays like a dream. I had one of these when I was a kid and amassed a library of like 15 games. My current library is 22 games, and I am purchasing one more game later today. It's funny, I look at some of the videos about this console, and every 5200 I've seen looks like utter sh!t. Mine is in pristene condition, looks like it just rolled off of the factory line. The cartridges are also in fantastic shape. The story of how I got this thing is hilarious, but that's for a later time and day.

Enjoy!

Cool stuff, where did you get those dust covers?

While I don't really play it, I still own my N64 from back in the day. The only game I even remotely care about is WWF No Mercy as that's still the best wrestling game ever made. Still a lot of fun, but man it's dated as hell haha

I love retro games. It brings back such great childhood memories. Except for an Atari 2600 game called Decathlon. To run, you had to move the joystick back and forth quickly leaving a blister in the palm of your hand.

You know, that last sentence didn't sound right....

KarmaKid you ROCK!!! Now that Doom 64 is on GP, all I need is a...

XBOX SERIES X!!! These a****** scalpers are ruining the chances of getting a new-gen console for all of us, esp the PS5, which doesn't have the same gaming infrastructure as GP. When I can find a series X for the MSRP, I'll nab one, but I will not be the buyer that scalpers are holding at ransom...

I would LOVE to play Doom 64 they say it's one of the best versions of Doom...
Yeah, it's... Different. I'm no fan, played it at release and from my memory it wasn't really a critically acclaimed port, but history seems to have revisioned itself somewhat.
The ps1 port is pretty great though, very faithful to the PC original and plays great with a controller.

The best Doom port is Doom Classic on PS3. Fantastic port!!! But yes, I own Doom for Playstation. Great game, and the music is totally atmospheric. :hehe:

LOL, I've got to get me a Series X, there are too many good games for it. Playing something like DOOM 64 or Doom Classic Complete gets me warm and fuzzy inside... not because of the nostalgia, but because I play it when I'm stoned out of my gourd. There's something a lot like Doom that is unstoppable... it's like watching The Matrix. You can see it over and over and over and over again, and playing the original classic DOOM NEVER gets old, at least not in my book. It's just one of those games you keep going back to and kicking some series demon ass. Dunno if you cats agree on this or not, but my first time playing it was on the Sega 32X. I had to play it, and nothing stood in my way. I literally went out and bought a Sega Genesis & the 32X attachment to play this game (and Star Wars, and Viruta Racing, which is why I didn't buy a Jaquar). At that time, I also owned the SNES. I tried to get my roommate into gaming, but nothing phased him. Until....he saw me playing DOOM on the 32X, oh yes that woke him up. I gave him the controller, briefly giving him the lowdown on the buttons and their functions and whatnot, and let him play on "Hurt Me Plenty". After an hour of repeatedly getting his ass handed to him, I let him play so he could watch me. After a bit, he suddenly "caught it", and that ws the end. I got really good, really fast, and that's one of my greatest DOOM MOMENTS, teaching a non gamer how to play one of the greatest all-time games ever designed. Anyway...that's just my DOOM story. Thank you for reading that pile of nostalgic garbage... and thanks to all the people that have pointed me in the right direction to find DOOM on GamePass, you guys ROCK!!!! =)

My latest Atari 5200 Homebrew Game...a serious step-up from the original game that came with the 5200... Don't get me wrong, I had quite a bit of fun when I was in the 7th & 8th grade with this console and this game, but the Homebrew game is just awesome...

Here's a pic...

And for those of you who want to know the difference between the original 5200 Pac-Man and the awesome homebrew game that I bought, just watch this video, it's a perfect version of Pac-Man for the 5200. Also, check out Ms. Pac-Man for the 5200, it's amazing for a console like this...

Original 5200: (9145) Pacman atari 5200 High Score: 121890 - YouTube
